THOUGHT SUPREME IN MAN, ASSERTS SCIENCESPEAKER Power of Understanding Can Heal, Bicknell Young Tells Audience. Thought governs or misgoverns man, tncludlng his body, said Bicknell Young, Chicago, who spoke Thursday evening at Tomlinson Hall on “Christian Science, the Science of Life." The meeting was under the auspices of the Third Church of Christ, Scientist. He said In part: “Our thinking has been based on education, which assumed that matter governs man. Christian Science reveals the fact that thought governs him, and that as we approach and attain a divine standard the health and safety of the body are proportionately secured. “The general public does not hesitate to say that Christian Scientists are a healthy and happy lot. “Thousands of people alive and 'well today testify they were saved from death and their health restored by Christian Science. "Health and life are natural. Disease and death are abnormal and unnatural. A better understanding of God will make health and life more general and permanent. “The Founder of the Christian religion proved beyond all question that disease of even the most fatal nature could be controlled and absolutely healed by the power of understanding. He knew and declared that the power to heal Is wholly from God, the Divine Mind. “The only philosophy that satisfies in regard to life is found In Christian Science. It shows that life Is and must be the self-existent mind, Intelligence, being, which we call God. “The Bible Is the original revelation of the immortal relationship of

Chief Examiner Is Too Busy to Pose
o \w pH e jj t73ctvi>2ach *
Here is a hasty sketch of Jesse E. Eschbach, who is to a considerable extent responsible for the appropriation bill in its original form. Jesse, who Is head of the budget department and chief examiner of the State hoard of accounts, is one of the busiest men In the Statehouse. He wouldn’t stand still long enough to have a picture made. Eschbach says a man In his position not only cannot please every one, but usually cannot please any one.
God* and man. Christian Science makes this relationship understood, and in doing this it removes condemnation and establishes redemption In Its stead. “We are trying to be worthy of this gift of God to man. We would be unworthy of It If we did not here express our love, gratitude and reverence to Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science. She established the cause on the enduring foundation where it now stands, and will continue to stand, a living and ever-rising monument to character and to a career of achievement absolutely unique in history'-”

Today, thanks to our policy of isolation, high tariff walla and the like, the other American nations are beginning to feel keen resentment against this country. The Santiago conference will either dissipate or confirm the impression now current throughout Latin America that Uncle Sam is dollar mad and indifferent to what may happen elsewhere in the world. Latln-Amerlca has three times the area of the United States. She has a population of eighty million —about the same as the Uiftted States had in 1900. If she grows at a proportionate rate —and she shows signs of growing even faster —in forty years she will have a poulation of one hundred and forty million. Today her commerce amounts annually to five billion dollars. In forty years it Is estimated this trade will reach forty billion dollars. Prior to the World wax, commerce between Latin-America and the United States amounted to only seven hundred and fifty million dollars a year. In 1919, it stood above three billion dollars —four times the 1913 figure. Two things now militate against Uncle Sam: Europe and events. Europe is doing her level best to recapture her lost trade, and events are

Four Reasons Why You Should Buy Your Ford Car This Month i. The unprecedented demand for Ford Cars throughout the winter months has taken the entire output of the Ford plants working at capacity, indicating that the demand this Spring will be far in excess of the number of Ford Cars that can possibly be built. 11. January was the tenth consecutive month in which retail deliveries exceeded 100,000 Ford Cars and Trucks. Requirements for February, the month when preparations are already under way for Spring business, called for 148,407 Cars and Trucks more than 24*000 in excess of the number we can possibly produce. HI. Ford dealers in many parts of the country are already finding it necessary to specify future delivery dates on Ford Products because there are no reserve stocks to draw from. IV. Your order placed now will protect you against delay or disappointment later on — It is the only way you can be assured of reasonably prompt delivery. We consider it important to give you these facts so that if you are planning to purchase a Ford Car, Truck or Fordson Tractor for use this Spring or Summer you can list your order at once and take advantage of our dealer’s first opportunity to make delivery. Inspection of Mines By Times Special WASHINGTON, Feb. 23.—As a result of the recent increasing number of coal mine fatalities, officials of the United States Bureau of Mines forsee the time when Congress will be obliged to extend the jurisdiction of the Federal Government in the mat-
