Success as Colleclor Presently the Chamber of Commerce was called on to employ anew executive secretary. Mothers Must Use Tact to Guide Boys’ Actions
SOMETIMES a mother, overeager to protect her young son or daughter, causes a great deal of unhappiness. For instance, in trying to prevent her son’s marrying too soon or marrying the wrong girl, she may drive him away from the right girl. Mother’s job is a hard one. Tact is one of the first requirements. Show Good Judgment Dear Miss Lee: I have been going with a very nice young man. I am very fond of his mother and she seems to think a great deni of me. But when mother talks to her she always talks about Jack’s not having time or money enough to go with girls. He goes to fraternity meetings two nights, takes music lessons one night and works every other Saturday night. His week is pretty well taken up. Bur don’t you think one night a week would be all right to be with me? I don’t care if he does not spend money on me. I have thought perhaps his mother is afraid he is getting serious. Jack is 20 and I am 18. We love each other, but have decided not to marry for three years at least, and until he secures a better position. MARY JANE. I don’t see how Jack's mother could object to you, Mary Jane. Jack should come to see you one night a week. Both of you seem to have an unusual amount of commen sense. Scores 'Cave Man’ Dear Miss Lee: For years T have been studying people, and hero is my opinion of subjects discussed recently in your column: I think a girl should not kiss a man unless she is engaged to him iLuiy unmarried mothers, delinquent girls, *8 become that because they run with different men and let them hug and kiss them. I think modern dancing is immoral, to a certain extent. A girl who lets a man hug and kiss her (unless engaged to th- man), either is ignorant or not the right sort. In my opinoin. T am a fellow of 22. sentimental to a <•*-!■- tain extent and interested in good music and literature. A THINKER A hit strong, perhaps; hut you prove not all men feel .'is "Uave Man” does, •that a dozen kisses a week are u necessity. Husband Is Neglectful My Dear Miss Lee: lam married. 25 and th? mother of two children. My husband has been neglectful the past six months, lb goes out frequently at night and has mv suspicions aroused. Would you advise m to go out at mghta with other fellows' DESPERATE DORlk If you should do what you are proposing, you would pave the way for a divorce, and, besides, would set your children a poor example. Instead.

■Martha Lee’s Advice-
make your home and yourself so pleasant that your husband will not want to leave it. And trust him. You do not know that he is doing anything wrong. Mistrust breeds misdeeds. More Etiquette JACK L.: Sit across from the girl when at dinner or lunch in a restaurant. It is correct for the man to ask the girl what she wishes and then to give the order for both. Any book store can refer you to reliable books of etiquette. Young Man Is Fickle Dear Miss Lee: I am 21 and have been going with a man four years my junior. He soms to like me, but he will ask other girls for dates at the same time he has a date with me and he seems very fickle. I also am going with a man my own age. He treats me right. Do you think it useless to waste my time on the younger man? JOAN. Yes, Joan, I think a boy of 17 is rather young for you. It is natural he should be fickle at that age. Plenty of Time Dear Miss Martha Lee: X have been going with a fellow for about three months and still he does not act as if he cares anything for me. But he carries my picture in his billfold. Should I ask him for my picture? I like him. I. S. Probably the man thinks of you as a friend. Don’t expect too much—especially in three months. As you gave him the picture, to ask him to return it would be an unfriendly act. Forgive and Forget WORRIED: Os course your husband was wrong not to tell you the truth before iie married you. But you should not let this blight both your lives, now that he Is doing ajl he can to make you happy. "Forgive and forget.” Then do all >cu can to spur him on to work harder, so that soon you can have the home he promised you.
