FIGHT ON BUDGET FIS TO AFFECT PARTYDSVISIONS G. 0. P. Victory on Reformatory Gives Democrats Material for Campaigns. Party lines in the Legislature re mained intact today, having survive, the test of strength to which tfcey were submitted in the division over the $16,000,000 appropriation bill in the House late Tuesday. The Republicans found the bill to their liking, including the $2,000.00 appropriation asked by Governor McCray to be applied to the construction of the new reformatory at Pendleton. Democrats found themselves in a position to continue shooting at the Republicans in campaigns on the grounds of extravagance. Roth Celebrate Consequently, both sides are celebrating. Only one member of the House failed to stay in line. Myron Post of Anderson. Dem ocrat, voted with the Republicans .gainst the amendment to reduce the Reformatory appropriation. He voted with the Democrats in every other instance. Post represents the county in which the Reformatory is being constructed When the smoke cleared away it was found the appropriation bill as submitted by the Budget Committee had not been changed materially. The net result was a reduction of approximately $165,000 in the $16,000,000 total. Governor’s Fund Cut Here are the principal changes: Provision made for payment of a : number of small bills, totaling ap- j proximately $3,000. Governor’s emergency and con- j tingent fund reduced from $500,000 to : $300,000. Appropriation for the industrial board reduced from SIOO,OOO to $90,000. 1 Provision made to maintain the his-1 torical commission instead of making It part of the State library. Appro- j prlatlon increased SIO,OOO. No Greenhouse Appropriation of $5,000 for a green- j house for the Soldiers' Home elimi-; nated. An additional SIO,OOO made for the j reformatory parole department. Fish and game division of the con- j servatlon department allowed to Keep I its fees instead of being allowed an appropriation of SIOO,OOO. This Is an ' indefinite increase in the approprl- i ation. Appropriation of the board of medi- j cal registration and examination increased $2,000. Appropriation of the board for the j industrial aid of the blind increased $15,000.
