MANY SENATORS ’ARE FEARFUL OF WARJN EUROPE Foreign Policy Will Again Be Debated in Congress, By United Press WASHINGTON, Jan. 26.—The Senate Foreign Relations Committee today dropped the Robinson resolution to give the United States official representation on the reparations commission. Individual members of the committee, however, will not let the matter drop, but probably will demand that Roland W. Boyden and his staff, unofficial American on the commission, be ordered to return to the United States. Many of both parties believe the Franco-German situation should not be permitted to develop to its logical conclusion. That conclusion, many Senators fear, will be war, or if not that, an accentuation of present world turmoil which will still further depress American markets, curtail American industry and hurt the farmer immeasurably. Administration leaders admitted today they would not be surprised to see fehe Senate adopt Senator Borah's proposal for an international economic conference. It is evident. Borah holds, that the | Administration policy is entirely negative. Hughes’ whole letter was regarded as showing that Boyden. though tho-e unofficially, nevertheless occupied a position virtually as influential as though he had been an official member. with the single exception that he had no vote on the commission.
