FARMER BOY IS • FAVORiTE SHEIK OF CMS GIRL 'Cake Eaters' Crossed Off List as Not Dependable and Lacking Ambition. By United Prett CHICAGO. Jan. 23.—Farmer boys who migrate to the city are displacing city-bred sheiks in hearts of cho-' rus girls. The ardent swain, with his rustic background, plus metropolitan polish, has become the favorite at all back stage doors. Chorus girls have tried and tired of the cake-eater stamp of stage door Johnnie —they are feeble lovers and zero prospects matrimonially. This inside on the back stage situation was volunteered by Geneva Mitchel, musical comedy star, in an interview today. Geneva, whose sensational fly-by-night marriage to Bob Savage, millionaire’s son. in Milford, Conn., a year ago, will be finally annulled tomorrow in New York, outlined the type of lover who approached the chorus girl ideal. Cake-eaters have been crossed off lists In the dressing rooms, and, Bestead, she said, were the names of bright young fellows from the provinces—ambitious country boys who come to the city to carve big futures for themselves. “The city boy throws on the dog. and is a good meal ticket when he has it —but he is not dependable,” said Geneva. “He will spend his last nickle for a taxicab or package of flowers and then borrow two bits from a friend to buy himself a hot bean sandwich. “Then, too. he lacks ambition —his one thought is pleasure. He may be good while he lasts, but he lacks the physical sturdiness. He is pale, anemic and bald headed at 30. He falls to sleep before midnight.” Chorus girls are not the mercenary creatures they are painted, according to Geneva, who declared she was giving up a millionaire for “love and a career.” DOUBLE TAX ON TRUCKS SOUGHT IN HOUSE BILL * Measure Provides for License Issue by County Auditors.
