FEAR FELT FOR REFUGEE SHIPS Seven Vessels Fail to Make Port on Schedule. Sy United Pres * MANILA, P. 1., Jan. 22.—Fear for the safety of seven Russian ships carving' several hundred Russian refugees, reported en route here from Shanghai .China, was expressed today. Although fifteen refugee ships were reported to have arrived Saturday at Linguygen Gulf, 100 miles from Manila, reports here were that seven others should have reached the gulf on that day. The ships originally were held at Vladivostok by the soviet government. Their crews seized them there and came to Shanghai with them, bringing a toal of some 800 refugees from Siberia. They were refused landing at Shanghai and more than a week ago started for Manila, where the advance guard arrived Saturday.

NUDE WOMAN IN HOTELARRESTED Actor-Husband Charged With Child Neglect. A nude woman in a room at the Washington Hotel, Sunday, refused to don clothing when motor policemen were called, they said today. Miss Anna Brunner, policewoman, dressed the woman, who is held on a charge of insanity. Juvenile court authorities investigated the case as two children of the woman must be cared for. Richard Delmar, also known as Charles Day, 40, an actor who said his home is in California, and that the woman is his wife, was arresteJ on a charge of child neglect. He was fcund at the rooming house of Mrs. Minnie Mathis, 2444 W. Vermont St. A daughter, Rozella, 4, was taken to the Detention Home, and Donald, 6 months, to the Indianapolis Orphans’ Home. Mrs. Delmar, 23. had registered at the Washington Hotel under the name Edith Appleton, but insisted her name was Ester Appel, and said her husband's name was Charles Day. Actions of the woman caused the hotel manager to send for Dr. P. G. Hendricks. Police were told by Mrs. Rose Newcomb, 504 N. Senate Ave., that the couple roomed at her house from Nov. 3 to Jan. 20, at which time she j held their trunks for security for i rent. After the arrest of the couple a colored maid appeared at the matron's office and said she wanted her wages.

U . S. to Blame for Ruhr Invasion , Not France , Says Woman

Jan. 22.—The United States, not France, is to blame for the invasion of the Ruhr, according to Miss Anne Morgan, executive chairman of the American committee for devastated France. In addresses here Miss Morgan said: “France has done the only thing she could under the circumstances. To the Frenchman reparations mean his very life. "In reality the responsibility for the situation rests on us. Had the United States finished the task that it started by entering the war in 1917 the present condition would not have arisen.” RITES FOR MRS. EISENHUT Mother of Police Lieutenant and Patrolman Dies. Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Eisenhut, 74. mother of Lieut. John Eisenhut, and Patrolman Thomas Eisenhut of the Indianapolis police department were held at the home of Lieutenant Eisenhut at 10 a. m. today. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Eisenhut was born in Tennessee and moved to Indiana with her parents in an ox wagon when she was 1 4. The family settled in Dußols County and took up farming. Mrs. Eisenhut married George Eisenhut of Dußois County when she was 18. Mr. Eisenhut died forty-one years ago and fifteen years ago Mrs. Eisenhut left Dußois County to make her home in Indianapolis. MRS. ELLIOTT’S FUNERAL Widow of Pioneer Indianapolis Man DiA at Martinsville. The funeral of Mrs. Annetta L. Elliott. 77, who died at Martinsville Saturday, was arranged for 3 p. m. today at the residence of her eon. George B. Eiliott, 3816 Washington Bivd. Burial was to be at Crown Hill. Mrs. Elliott was the widow of Joseph T. Elliott, pioneer resident of Indianapolis. She is survived by two sons, George B. Elliott of Indianapolis and C. Edgar Elliott of New York, and two sisters, Mrs. Hatttie L. Asbury of Indianapolis and Elizabeth fjtngsdale of California.
