SIMS AGAIN GETS IN SPOTLIGHT BT BELITTLING NAVY Rear Admiral Says British Fleet Kept Americans From Learning to Speak German. FLAYS NAVAL AGREEMENT Former Secretary of War Denies Assertions in Regard to War Army. By United Press NEW YORK, Jan. 15. —The Washington naval agreement gives Britain and Japan greater sea power than the United States, according to Rear Admiral W. S. Sims. Speaking at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, Sims asserted that American "theoretically" rangs below Britain and Japan because those nations have guns of heavier calibre. This, he declared, nullified the 5-5-3 tonnage ratio. Furthermore, according to Sims, the Washington agreement is unimportant, because it does not control the building and arming of air fleets, which will figure largely in the next war.
“If it had not been for the British grand fleet keeping the German fleet off the high seas, you Americans would be learning to speak German today,” he said. BAKER DENIES SIMS’ ASSERTIONS By United Press CLEVELAND, Jan. 15. —Assertions by Admiral W. S. Sims that the orders at the outbreak of the World War “to go slow with the Navy and do nothing with the Army” were denied here today by Newton D. Baker, former Secretary of War. “I never heard of any such order," Baker said. "Certainly nothing like it emanated from the War Department. I do not know what Admiral Sims may have on his mind in making such a statement.”

As over 10 million bottles of Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin are sold a year, a large proportion of the people of this country must believe that this mild vegetable compound is the proper remedy for them, and so 't is. No need to take salt waters and powders that dry up the blood; coal-tar drugs in candy form that produce skin eruptions, or calomel that salivates. These'dnigs are “heroic measures”, over-effective, weakening and griping. ANY FAMILY MAY TRY IT FREE Thousands of parents art asking themselves, "Where can l find a trustworthy laxative that anyone in the family can use when constipated?'' I urge you to try Syrup Pepsin. I will gladly provide a liberal free sample bottle, sufficient for an adequate test. Write me where to send it. Address Dr. W. B. Caldwell, 5i5 Washington St., Monlicello, Illinois. Do il now! compound of Egyptian senna and pepsin with pleasant-tasting aromatics, and has been satisfactorily sold for 30 years. Unlike the harsher physics it does not produce a habit, and increased doses are not required; in fact, it so trains the stomach muscles that in time medicines of all kinds can be dispensed with. Many take a teaspoonful of Syrup Pepsin once a week as a health safeguard. Others use it only when required, as, for example, Mrs’. J. W. Borroughs of Little Rock, Ark., who finds it equally valuable for herself and the children, and Mr. Enas S. Costa of Watsonville, Cal., whose family uses it regularly. Try Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin in constipation, biliousness, piles, headaches, sallow complexion, and to break up fevers and colds. A generous-size bottle can be had at any drug store, and it casts only about a cent a dose'
