HEALTH PROBE IS STARTED Unhealthful Living Conditions and Violation of Fire Laws Reported in Attic. Four men who were caught In a raid in which a 300-gallon sUll was found in operation at 702 Madison Ava, received heavy fines and penal farm sentences on blind tiger charges in city court today. The sentences were as follows: • luiseppe Boini. 25. Investigate Building The dty board of health and the Rre prevention department today began an investigation of the building in the attic of which police found a complete whisky manufacturing plant Thursday. The raid resulted In a report of unhealthful living conditions on the second floor and violation of fire prevention laws. To get to the still, the police climbed a ladder and pulled themselves through a hole in the ceiling of the second floor, they said. They said they found thirty-eight barrels of mash, thirty gallons of white mute, some inule flavored and colored to imitate creme do menthe and cordials and brandies. Tho 300-gallon still was In full operation when seized, police said. The first floor of the building was used as a factory for plaster of parts statues- and kewpie dolls. Part of the second floor was used for storage by the kewpie doll factory and it was in this place that the police believe the fire prevention regulations were violated. Jacob Riedel, chief of the fire prevention bureau, today stated he personally inspected the building seven months ago and forced the occupants to clean up excelsior and paper. He said that at that time there was no whisky still in the building. STATE ENGINEERS PLAN SESSIONS HERE JAN. 18-19 K. \V. McCullough to Address First Meeting. The forty-third annual convention of the Indiana Engineering Society will be held at the Hotel Lincoln. Jan. 18 and 19- E. W. In the evening a radio demonstration will be given by Charles Brossman. Talks will be made by D. J. Angus of Esterline. Mass., and Prof. R. V. Achatz of Purdue University.
