Martha Lee’s Advice MotherShouldße ‘Pai’ From Child’s Viewpoint
The modera mother tries to be a “pai” to her children, so that they will confide in her. That is thè trouble. In treating her daughters as “pals”-or “sisters,” she nuy then grow up too quickly, by bringing them up to her grown-up view of problems, rather than coming down to their little gir! view. It is a danger thè modern mother must counter. Mother ls Worried Ilear Miss X-.ee: I ara in love with my lmsband. VVe have been marritd Beventeten years. _ I have a daugliter 12 vears old. Likes Pretty Girls Miss Martha Lee: I am what niost girls would cali “not a bit good-looking.” It seéms as though thè only kind of girls I care for are thè pretty oncs. Do you think an ugly man would have any chance to win a good-looking girl? Ihease teli me how I could do it. if possible. Have good clothea and manners anything to do with it? It also seems I never feel at rase when I am with a girl whom I have just met. I am 20 and work every day. IHSSPONDENT. Ugliness is not much of a handicap to a man, as long as he is not repulsive.
