DILLI TULIO lEEMGIN G. 0. P. Ward Chairman Is Charged With Gambiing. Preparations for thè trial o£ Thomas B. Dillon, 742 S. Cupitol Ave., on three eharges of running gambiing houses, brought by thè Marion County grand jury Oct. 13, havebeen completed by Judge James A. Collins of thè Criminal Court and William P. Evans, proseeuting attorney. Evans bas charged Dillon operated under 1 dice protection. The trial will begin tomorrow at 9 a. m. before Special Judge "William V. Rooker. Dillon was granted a change of venue when he flled affidavit statlng he believed Judge Collins was prejudiced. Motion to quash thè indictments was flled this week by Dillon’s attorney, Ire B. Holmes, and overruled by Judge Rooker. In a politicai speech thè night of Xov. 1. Prosecutor Evans, camp.oigning for re-election, attaeked Dillon. who is Republican chairman of thè Twelfth ward, and also denounced William H. Armitage, chairman of thè Republican executive committee. and W. H. Freeman, Republican county chairman. "Dillon ran a gambiing house at McCarty St. and "Capitol Ave., with thè protection of certain police otflcers.” said Evans. "An Inspector of police knew afcout it, but did nothing. Automobiìes were so thlck around thè place you couldn't find parking space. Sometimes thè crowds inside were so great no more could get in.” Evans also charged that "those who want to make money out of law violations workèd against me and Judge Collins because they could not lay thelr hands on Criminal Court or thè prosecutor’s office.” 1 DEATH NOTICES BOOTH.
