J. Cooper Props of Muneie. president of thè organization. presided at thè sessions, which were held in thè nalm room. D. C. Barnett gave a summary of thè year's work and polnted thè way for thè future of thè organization. Charles Watkins of Muneie former govemor of Rotary Clubs. talked on thè subject "He Protits Most Wtao Serves Best.” a very enlightening address on cooperation between dealer and thè public. C. A Vane, generai manager of thè National Automobile Dealers Association. delivered a very spirited address at thè aftemoon Pession. in which he called attention to thè dangers which surrounds thè trades in used cars. and asked dealers to exercise greater i are in all transaetions involving thè second-hand car. and pointed to thè fact that there are too many manufacturers of as well as dealers In cars. and that thè high competition. wlth lts eonsequent inflated overhead. was proving thè “Waterloo” of many good companies. He made thè statement that 90 per cent of all thè automobiles manufactured in thè United States were thè Products of fifteen factories. while thè remaining 10 per cent were made in 100 factories. He said his duties called him to many cities throughout thè Nation. and it had been hb obeervar.ee that in many towns where ten dealers could'easily supply thè community wlth necessarv cars he had sound as many as thirty. all trading heavily in used cars. Thls condition he denounced as economlcally wasteful. The meeting discussed thè used car proposition thoroughly and went into thè matter of legislation at thè Corning General Assemblv, at which time a tax levy on gasoline used in motor vehicles will be proposed and inevease of thè license fees will be asked In a separate bill in thè process of belng framed. A banquet was held in thè Kiley room at 7 o'clock in thè evening. at which Colin Campbell, generai manager of thè Chevrolet Motor Company who was in Indianapolis attending thè Chevrolet dealers’ convention, deliv ered thè Principal address.
