VOTES IO BUILD NEGRO SCHOOL Board Unanimously Decides to Erect Separate High School. Establishment of a separate high school for colored pupils was decided upon by thè board of school coirmlssioners last night. Action was by unanlmoua vote, aster strong protesta had been entered by representatives of varlous colored organizations. The site was not selected. The old Marion County workhouse property at Northwestern Ave. and Twenty-Firet St. will be considered. There are almost SOO colored high school pupils In Indianapolis, accoYding to E. U. Grafi, superintendent of schools. About twenty-flve colored citlzens were present when thè board met. Their spokesmen argued that separate high schools would mean that colored children of thè city would not be afforded equal educational opportunità that thè movement was undemocratlc and that lt would bave a tendency to create frlction between thè races. Talks were made by Dr. A. J. King, Dr. O. W. Langston, thè Rev. Louis H. Barry, pastor of St. Phillips Lplscopal Church, thè Rev. H. L. Herod, pastor of thè Second Christian Church and R. L. Bailey. Action was not taken by thè board mtil thè tìelegation left. In thè rear yard thè police say they sound a quart bottle one-third full of ‘‘white mule.” Commodore Harris was arrested on a charge of operatmg a blind tiger.
