POINCARÉ-LI BREAKPREtENTS AN AGREEMENT Adjournment o f Premiers’ Co ference Saves Open Cla? Between Diplomats RUHR CAUSES DEADLU. Sritain Attempts to Check French Plans to Strangle Cermany. By United Xcica LONDON, Dee. 12. —Premiers Bonai Law and Poincaré have held their flrst sharp diplomatic bout since thè retirement of Uoyd George from Downing Street — and “time” has been called to prepare for th next round. Those at thè of thè repara tions conference of *llied premiers are eonvineed that thè adjournment of thè session Monday was thè only thing that saved thè two pnn'vpals from an open clash. They see Placare sparring for an opening that véli permit French occupations of thè ììJhr, unhampered by allies’ objections. They believe Bonar Law is trying, as TJoyd George tried, to keep a British cn thè French plans and prevent fu ther strangling of German industry. The tactlcs of Poincaré are held to roteai that he ls seeking to drive thè British entirely out of thè reparations problem. if possible. This was thè definite impression created, following thè announcement that no agreement had been reached on settling of thè war debts and thè decision to partieipate in another parley on January 2. in Paris. The insistence of Premier Poincaré, that French troops be allowed to occupy one or two towns in thè Ruhr Vasin during a period of moratorium which was to have been granted Germany caused thè dead-lock.
