APPOINTS NAFE CITY HOSPITAL SUPERINTENDENT Board of Health Asks for Resignation of Dr. Richard A. Poole. NEW CHIEF IS ASSISTANT Trouble Grows Out of Friction Between Head and Nurses. Dr. Cleon Nafe was in charme of thè city hospital today as superintendent, as a resuit of thè order of thè board of health askinsr for thè resignation of Dr. Richard A. Poole as superintendent and appointing Dr. Nafe in his place. Dr. Poole had not tendered his resignation , but he said he would do so In a few days. Dr. Nafe was asslstant superintendent. Trouble grew out of friction between Poole and Miss Josephine Mul- j ville, superintendent of nurses. whom thè board brought from Boston, severa 1 months ago. Poole said tales were carried tc thè board. He alleged it was said that “I was too familiar with thè patients, that it was unbecoming thè dignity of thè superlntendent of such an institution to go about talking to thè folks in thè hospital thè way I did. Dr. W. Harry Howard, interne, was appointed house surgeon and Dr. Russell B. Hippensteel, interne, was appointed house physician. Knafe was authorized to appoint from thè present staff an assistant house physician I and surgeon. The superintendent’s salary is $4,- j 200 a year. Poole was appointed when thè Shank administration took office in January. MRS. FRANK D. STALNAKER BUYS BUSINESS BUILDING Uve-Story Bride Purchased Front Ilubbard Estate. A five-Vtory brick building at 21922 S. Meridian St., belonglng to thè ■William Hubbard estate, has been sold to Mrs. Frank D. Stalnaker for $75,000. The property is occupied by thè E. C. Dolmetch Company, dealers in school supplies. Mrs. Stalnaker, wife of thè president of thè Indiana National Bank, said today thè purchase was for investment purposes, and no change in thè buildng or leasing was contemplated. By Uniteci Neics WASHINGTON, Dee. s.—lf thè relationship between prices now was such as existed before thè war, this would have been a prosperous year for thè Nation, in thè estimation of Secretary of Agriculture Wallace. With thei distorted relationship of prices at thè present time, Wallace declared in his annua! report, niade public Monday, “The farmers, notwithstanding their hard work and large production. And themselves stili laboring under a terrible disadvantage as compared with other groups. Produce Abimdajntly “In contrast with various other groups of workers, they have produced abundantly and without cessation. This year thè acreage of thè fourteen Principal crops is about 337,000,000, which is 7,000.000 above thè ten-year average and but 1,000,000 below last year. Production of these fourteen crops is estimated for this year to be a total of about 265,000,000 tons, which is 11,000,000 tons above last year and above thè ten-year average. Causes Given Among thè causes which contributo to thè abnormal relationship between farm prices and thè prices of other commodities, Wallace mentioned: 1. Over production of many farm crops. 2. Continued high freight rate.
