OIiESBFC.L. U. ftREJCREftSED Boost of 1 Cent a Month Is Subject to Ratification by Locals. ‘GANG RULE’ IS CHARGED Central Body Thanked for Aid to Community Chest in Campaign. A motion calling for an increate in dues of X cent a month for each member of organìzed la ber bodles in Indianapolis, was adopted, subject to ratification by thè various locals, last night at a meeting of Central Labor Union. The proposed increase brtngs thè per capita tax up to 3 ceftts a month for each member of organìzed bodies in Indianapolis. The tax was proposed by Arthur Lyday of thè Motion Picture Operatore’ Union, at a meeting six weeks ago. Aster a heated discussion thè matter was settled by voting in favor of thè addition, subject to ratification by thè locai unions throughout thè city. A copy of thè resolution, together with a report of thè financial standing of thè centrai body and a list of its expenses will be sent to each locai. The tax levy will come up f for final ndoption or rejectioft at thè first meeting of thè body next year. Opnosition Melvin Scaggs. epposed to thè measure, in a YVebstarian burst of oratory, charged thè centrai body with being run by “gang rute.” The whole organized labor movement is rum by a “gang rule” method, according to 3caggs. Homer W. Boret, executive secretary of thè Indianapolis Community Chest, thanked thè Central Labor Union for thè support which it had given thè chest In its campaign to raise $643,584 for organìzed charities in thè city. He pointed out that charitv alone would not solve thè economie problems, but that under thè present system charities were a necessita* and "that organlzed labor had done its part ncbly. He invited thè Centrai Labor Union to select representatives to assist thè Commnuitv Chest in its further work. Mr. Borst suggested that ,it mlght be better to change ttu name of thè Community Chest because thè present name probably “brought up unpleasant memories.” MINE ELECTÌOK INTEREST SUL The coming election of officials ofthe United Mine Workere to be held Dee. 12, is expected by union 1 cadere not to attract much attentimi. With thè withdrawal of George Mercer of Canton, UL, as candidate for president of thè International organization, President John L. Lewis, Vice President Thomas Murray and Secretary William Green, all up for reelectlon, will be unopposed. Mercer withdrew when he learned of his amali vote received for nomination. President John Hessler of dlstrict IL Indiana, was placed in thè fìeìd by a number of locai unions, but refused to run. In distriet 11, thè reai fight is expected in thè election of officials. President Hessler, Vice President T. L Roberta and Secretary William Mitch are all up for re-electlon. A large number of candidates are in thè field, however. Followers of thè present administration of thè distriet claim that present officials will be re-elected because of their record during thè recent minere' strike. Mitch and Hessler are among thè thirty-two candidates seeking election of delegates to thè American Federation of Labor. vKight are to be elected. FIGHT WULFSON'S ACT A petition for a restraining order egainst Frank Broz, acting constable for Isadore Wulfson, a justice of thè peace, has been filed in Circuit court by six colored iawyers. The lawyers who filed thè petition were James Bryant, W. S. Henry, J. K. Brown, Frank Williams, Fred IJston and John Browder. SEEKS MISSINO WIFE Whbn Mrs. Steven Hull, 29, of 1424 S.
