MINISTERSFAVOR EUGENIO MOKE IN MARRIAGES Chicago Federation of Protestant Churches Indorse Action of Episcopal Clergy. By RODNEY DUTCHER. Vnited Sete Staff Correapondcnt CHICAGO. Nov. 3. —The sensatlonal stand of Chicago Episcopalian ministers. who voted to requlre medicai certifleates from all parties seeking thè marriage ceremony, met with instantaneous lndorsement by clergymen of other rellgious denominations here Tuesday. War on Disease. The “eugenie marriage" movement, which grew out of City Health Commlasioner Herman X. Bundesen s vigomus war on social diseases, has gained such impetus that prominent ministers predict that a couple will soon find it diffiicult to he married by a Protestant minister in Chicago unless both bride and groom can present them to be free from distse. The Indorsement of thè Episcopalian stand was nearly unanimous. tempered only by thè opinion of a few who hold that thè certificate should be made compulsory by legislative action instead of by thè churches. Opinion Pivided. Opinion is more divided over thè proposed teaching of sex lessons to Sunday school children. which has always been a moot question. Several ministers interviewed here felt this was a matter for thè public schools or for home instruction. Xearly three hundred ministers. here from all parts of thè country, and representing practically all thè Principal Protestant denominations heard of thè Episcopalian action for thè first time at thè national conference on church publicity here. and immediately indorsed thè part dealitig with health certificates by a unanimous rising vote, following a motion by Dr. Howard Agnew Johnson, presldent of thè Chicago Federation of Churches.

L. S. Ayres & Co. is tifty years old. For many years thè above aspiration has been expressed on thè back of every sales check. We mean it just as sincerely today as thè first day it appeared. A store exists only when it attraets new patrons and keeps thè old. We have one customer on our books whose account was started with us fìfty years ago. We have others whose mothers and fathers were customers from thè days of thè old Trade Palace. Hundreds of both cash and charge customers have told us that this has been “their store’* as far back as they can remember. “Confìdence is a plant of slow growth,” but its roots strike deeply and its fruitage is sure, An so henceforth, as in thè past, “our Constant endeavor” shall be “to make every transaction a stepping stone toward your perfect confìdence.” Olir Golden Anniversary The celebration of our Golden Anniversary next week comprises a fìfth floor exhibition of one hundred and nine posters painted by Indiana artists, a third floor presentation of fashions and relics of thè early seventies, a series of scenic Windows and beautiful interior decorations. We’ll feel slighted if you should fail to attend.
