By United rinunciai NEW YORK, Oct. 28.—The Wall Street Journal today says: Aster thè strergfh in evidenee at Friday’s dose had oarried thè Industriai leader slightlv higher during thè early dealiugs on thè New York Stock Exchange today thè generai list sueoumbed to irregularities. Speculative sentiment continued uneertain regarding thè immediate course of priees. This feeling was reflected in a series of nervous movements during thè latter pad of thè morning. Allieti Chemical had a disconcering break which encouraged renewed selling nf thè industriai leaders but much better support was inet than during thè middle of thè week. ► At no tln re :ent reaction havg thè railroad and industriai averages broken be.ow thè September lows. l'ndertone Strong Trading was quiet in thè first half hour, but thè undertone continued strong. Special activity was evidenced in Freeport, Texas, whlch made a new liigh on thè recovery at 24 and in generai American Tank Car ’ Ich sold at 76 1 i against Thursday’s low of 73. Houston advanced to 84% against its recent'low of 79*1. American Can was steady at 72ij, retlecting persistent demand. Buying of can is based primarily on thè exeelìent earning outiook for thè company for vears ahead. Renewed selling carne into thè markht around 11 o’clock. when priees in thè generai list were unsettled by a disturbing break in AHied Chemical, whìch slumped 3% to 77%. This seilir.g reflected thè un'dolng of a speculative position built un on thè hope that thè company intende*.! to increase its si annua! dividend lx-fore this time. This weak spot encouraged professional elements to test other sections of tlie list and industriai leaders again turned reactionary.
