DEEP SEBPITES CftPTURE VESSEL; HIT a ITER Trio, Who Narrowly Escape Lynching When Caught. Ky Uniteti Wtr HAMBURG, Oct. 27.—Three deep sea pirates are in thè Hamburg jail under dose guard to protect them from lynch’ng and thè detaiis are just bdng leamed of a stirring episode on llue water. The pfrates shot thè captain of thè schooner Bertha, iocked him up, overpowered thè crew and took possession of thè ve*sei. The Bertha, with a valuable cargo, and carrying no arms, was boarded some distante cff Hamburg by a party of four men 3 a a small boat. Refusine to surrender at their command, thè captai n was shot and bungled lnto his OTfn cabin, where he was locked up. Then thè pirates conquered thè Bertha’s crew and began to thè ship. Having satisficd themselves apparently as to thè value of thè cargo thè pirates began navigating thè ship toward shore. Their being divcrted from thè captain he loosed himself and got over thè side with some members of his crew in a lifeboat and rowed for sìiore amid thè dancing spout*> of bullets striking thè water all around him. Uhi ring thè night thè schooner ran into shoal water and grounded and there she was sound when thè skipper retumed fevith shinpine cfficials and an armed from Hamburg. Three pirates rtmaining aboard were casily taken. The fourth had put off in a small !>oat and escaped with valuable booty. XYhen thè three prisonerà were brought ashore thè police had a battle to prevent waterfront crowds from lynching them. STRUCK BY AUTO Eight-Year-Old Boy Receives Iìroken Leg.
