When they played “BeTieve Me If All Those Endearing: Young Cha*-ms” and “When Tou and I Were Young. Maprale,” there was thè suggestion of a tear bere and there, but thè boys soon had them keeping tinte with their feet by playing a fast snappy tune. Ben Meroff hadn’t fntended to dance, but he was so enthused by thè , dear old ladies that he offered his famous ice skating dance, and he will never be forgotten for doing it. The stoutest lady present declared she would give her lmpression of thè dance aster he had gone. The drurnmer also caught thè spirtt and sang pome southern sor.gs. His song about Honolulu was what interested Mrs. Kerr, for she had been to Honolulu many times. When she leamed most of thè boys were front Reading, Pa.. she sald, “Xow I know where you get your music, for I was bom in Pennsylvania, too. They all carne away with iighter fcearts than they had had in many a day. OYSTERS Stew in Jersey B’f Uniteti Yetrj* JERSEY CITY, Oct. 27.—There fa much indignation throughout New Jersey over thè reviled oyster stew. Jersey has a weakness for this dish; thè stews are all right but thè bowls in which they are served are all •wrong. They have a vertical rise In thè middle, a sort of sand bar, which a 6tray oyster may disport ltself prominent’:-' but which detraets from thè net tonrage. There is a concert ed deman d fcrr a restoration of thè old fashioned bowls. There is a considerable stew about this.

Former Secretary in War Office Declares Wine and Beer Soon to Be Restored in U. S.
BY PHILIP J. SIXNOTT TRA Staff Corrcspondcnt. CLEVELAND, Olilo, Oct. 27.—Beer and light wines wlll be restored to America within a short tinte as a result of America’s sentiment against a drastic and extreme law, according to Benedict Crowcll, foimer asslstant Secretary of War, and wealthy Cleveland contractor and bullder. And Crowell, who played a big part in America's war victory, is lining up Ohio to participate in that ntoderation. “This is a question of majority rule,” declares CrowelL "There is no issi;e of religioni no personalltles are involved. "Tndignation against thè drastic Volstead act and thè wldespread debauchery following it has spread until throughout America thè Assoclation Against thè Prohihition Amendment has started a fight for resto rati on of constitutlonal rights. "Heretofore, as in thè present campaign, thè Anti-Saloon League and ita allies have put thè mark of disrepute upon anvbodv opposing them — classing all who might difTer as 'saloon interests.’ This kept silent many men and women of highest character. “Now, however, an aroused pnbllc orinion has brought representative citizens of America to start thè present campaign. Ita obiective is not return of saloons, but thè right to drink beer and light wines. Any person in any way connected with thè liquor business is barred from membershlp in thè assoclation, in so far as this can possibly be done." Vote on Question In Ohfo and Illinois tlie voters will poli on a clean-cut issue—mndifieation of thè prohihition laws. Crowell is chairman of thè executive committee directing thè Ohio campaign. The result will be threefoM, according to proponente of thè Ohio measure to legallze light wines and beer. It will resister deftnitoly thè wet

DOCTORS STOP MEAT IN KIDNEY TROUBLE No man or woman who rata too j much meat can ipake a mlstake by llushing thè kidneys occaaionally, says ! a well known authority. The moment you feel a dui! ache in thè kidneys, or your back hurts, or if thè urine is cioudy, offensive, full of sediment, irregular of passage or attended by a sensation of scalding, stop eating meat and get about four ounces 1 of Jad Salts from any pharmacy; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast, and in a few days your kidneys may act fine. This famous salts la made from thè acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithla, and has been used for generatlons to flush and stlmulate thè kidneys; aiso to neutralize thè acida In urine so it no longer causes irritation, thus often ending bladder weakness.
