CERTIFICATE RATE IRES BIT AFFECT f STOCKS DEALINGS Treasury Offering Has Higher Interest Than Expected in Some Circles. MARKET IS BUOYANT Bullish Demonstration Holds Attention in Industrials at Opening. Twenty active industrial stocks Saturday averaged 100.50, off .31 per cent; twenty active rails averaged 91.90, off .03 per cent. By United Financial ' NEW YORK, Oct. 9.—The Wall Street Journal today says: Although the $500,000,000 treasury offering bearing a 4*4 per cent rate was higher than expected in some circles the best opinion here had been that a 4*4 per cent rate would be more in conformity with general' conditions in the , money market. Hence the announcement had no P fleet on the stock market which delayed buoyancy in opening dealings on the New York Exchange today. Standard Oil of New Jersey soared to anew high at 257, while Dupont also went to anew high at 162. International Consolidated dropped to 2 on announcement of the Interboro Reorganization plan providing for elimination of the International Consolidated Corporation. A bullish demonstration in a broad group of Industrials was the feature of the first hour. Tremendous activity in the listed Standard Oils was followed by an outburst in Texas Company which carried the rtock to anew 1922 high at 51%. Suidebaker attained anew high on the toiove at 135 and Baldwin at 138%. LOCAL BANK CLEARINGS Indianapolis Bank clearings Saturday were $3,147,000: for the week ending Saturday. Slfl 613.000. GRAIN PRICES ARE HIGHER AT START \ Chicago Market Makes Advance at Opening in Sympathy With Liverpool. By United Financial CHICAGO, Oct. 9.—Grain prices, opened higher on the Chicago Board of Trade today in sympathy with higher quotations from Liverpool and the continuance of light receipts. Unfavorable weather through the greater portion of the spring wheat country has delayed the movement from the country and car shortages on the 'railroads have caused congestion in the country -elevators. Corn lacked independent features, but prices followed the trend of wheat. Oats showed some stubborn spirit and was hesitant to follow the advance of the market leader. Receipts were estimated at 215 cars. Provisions opened slightly higher in sympathy with a strong hog market opening at the Chicago yards.
