When Detectives Peats and Fleetwood entered the roll call room at police headquarters today they recognized Paul Francisco, 28, as the man who escaped from the State Penal Farm some time ago, they said. Francisco had been slated on a petit larceny charge. He gave his address as the Craig Hotel. Manual An addition to Manual’s teaching corps has been made lately. Mrs. Lucile Kingsbury is taking the place of Miss Zobel in food study. Miss Zobel has a leave of absence. - - Booster subscriptions are now being solicited at the school. It is believed that this year’s quota will exceed that of any other so far. Members of the school alumni who wish to take the paper should get in touch with Mr. Holloway or a Booster agent right away. The Odd Number Club, formerly the Short Story Club, will hold its first meeting in room 26 at the close of school on Thursday. The Latin Club will meet in room 1 4 at the close of school on Thursday. Miss Davis will be glad to see any students in Latin two or above at that time. The Junior Drama League had a reorganization meeting in the old auditorium at the close of school on Tuesday. Former members and pupils wishing to become members were present. SETS PROTEST DATE Tax Commissioners YYIII Hear Local Complaints Monday. The State board of tax commissioners will hear protests against the Indianapolis and Marion County tax levies, Monday morning, Leo K. Fesler, Marion County auditor, has announced. Mr. Fesler has certified fourteen remonstrances signed by 224 taxpayers of Center, Warren and Lawrence Townships. The State board has received more than fifty such protests from various counties, hearings on which will be held in the local taxing units. DRIVER FINED SIOO Charge of Being on Wrong Side of Street Substantiated. Ivy Logsdon, 1314 W. TwentyEighth St., a truck driver for the Fairbanks-Morse Cos., drew a fine of SIOO and costs in city court on the charge of driving on the wrong side of the street. The charge grew out of an accident in which the truck of Logsdon's and an auto driven by C. A. Pickard. Edgewood, Ind., collieded at the exit driveway of the Peiyisvlvanla freight house, 600 block S. Delaware St. Pickard's two children were injured. A $25,000 damage suit has been filed by Pickard. GETS SCHOOL LOAN Indiana Trust Company to Supply $300,000 to Board. Bids for a loan of $300,000 with which to pay teachers' salaries were received by the board of school commissioners last night. The Indiana Trust Company, with a bid of 5 per cent interest and $75 premium, was the successful bidder. One other bid, that of the Union Trust Company, of 5 per cent interest and sl7 premium was submitted. The loan will run from Oct. 8 to Dec. 1.
