T NIGHT SCHOOL OPENS SEPT, 11 • Vocational Training Classes Will Start Under Competent Instructors. With t"he opening of night school, Sc-pt. 22, the Y. M. C. A. begins its annual program of vocational training, which haa been a part of the association’s activities for nearly thirty years. As a result of more than a quarter es a century's experience forty different highly-developed courses are being offered at cost. A National Educational Council has been organized, which has prepared standard courses for the more important subjects offered, including traffic management, better letters, accountancy, advertising, salesmanship, public speaking and foremanshlp. East year 1,153 njen and boys studied in the local Y. M. C. A. night m-hool. Indications point to a much higher enrollment for the coming winter. A total of thirty instructors make up the faculty of the night school. 22,000 VOLTS FAIL TO KILL Electrician Only Slightly Burned by Strong Current. XEW YORK, Sept. B.—A current of 22,000 volts of electricity passed through the body of George B. Wagner, 29 years old, an electrician of Dorchester, Mass., when he grasped a defective wire on which he was working in the New York Central Railroad yards In the Bronx. He is in Lincoln , Hospital suffering only fro msecond- j degree burns on the forearm, back, hands and chest. Dr. Benjamin Segal, who treated him at the hospital, said Wagner's escape from death was almost miraculous, and was due to the electrician's grip. Despite the torture and pain of the high voltage current, Wagner had sufficient presence of mind to fall on his stomach and throw his elbows on the ground, thus changing the course of the electric current away from his heart. WOMAN ROUTS THIEVES Battles Three Burglars to Save $20,000 Jewels. NEW YORK. Sept. B.—ln a flight with three burglars in her Flatbush j home. Mrs. Catherine Irene Sweeney. | owner of the Thomas Meehan Lumber Company, although beaten with a blackjack, saved jewels she valued at 520,000. Mrs. Sweeney fought attempts of one of the robbers to remove the ; jewels she wore and was felled with a blow on her head. Her niece, struggling with another of the intruders, broke a window and screamed for help. The thieves tied, taking SI,OOO in cash and jewels they had found before attacking the women. Detectives arrested three youths in an automobile near the house. Each was held in SI,OOO bail. ATor immediate and permanent relief from eczema I prescribe Resinol “If you want to experiment, try ■ some of those things you talk about. But if you really want that itching stopped and your skin healed, I advise you to get a Jar of Resinol Ointment, and a cake of Resinol Sosp. We doctors have been prescribing that treatment ever since you were a small boy, so we know what it will do. It is cooling, soothing, easy and economical to use, and rarely fails to overcome eczema and similar affections." JUST DRAGGED SO WEAKENED Florida Lady Was In a Miserable Condition, But Says She Found Cardui Helpful, and Got Well. In explaining how she found Cardui so helpful, Mrs. Ella M. Bailey, of Blountstown, Fla., said: "I became so weakened it was an effort for me to get around. I knew what was the matter, but I felt like I couldn’t give up. “1 just dragged, and I certainly was nervous. I was so restless I could not sit down long—yet so weak I couldn't get about. It is a most miserable and such a helpless feeling. “I would get depressed and out of heart. “I began to feel, after awhile, there was no use to try to get well. This is all wrong, for It makes a person worse. “I had heard of Cardni, and thought It might strengthen me. A neighbor had used it with good results. "I took one bottle (of Cardui), then I saw I wasn’t so nervous, so kept it up. “Gradually the nervousness left me. I began to eat and sleep better. Was soon well, and all right. “Cadui did wonders for me, and I certainly do recommend it.’’ Thousands of other women have written, to tell of the beneficial results obtained by taking Cardui, and to recommend it to others. Cardui has stood the test of extensive use for more than forty years. Good druggists, everywhere, sell Cardui, the woman’s tonic. Try it.— Advertisement.
