MOTOR CHS SEPLAJPEONS Long Distance Trucking Recalls Pioneer Days of Old Schooner. Back in the old pioneer days of Indiana long lines of prairie schoon ers plodded westward along the National toad from Richmond to Indianapolis. Still later, while the winning of the West was still under way, the line continued, then died out. Now the lineal descendants of the old schooners have taken up the trail: this time they are big capacity motor trucks, with the power of whole herds of horses concealed under their hoods, according to T. R. O'Donnell, president of T. R. O'Donnell & Cos., trucking and heavy hauling experts, 1503 W. Washington St. "The old prairie schooners of the pioneers took days to make a trip covered in a few hours by any one of our twelve trucks." President O’Donnell said. "We maintain a daily transfer service between Indianapolis and Richmond and employ twenty-five men to do the work. 1 really believe our concern is the largest of Its kind in Indiana and no company can excel in perfection of service and completeness of equipment. "We specialize in ail kinds of heavy hauling, including Heavy machinery, safes, etc. This particular kind of work depends upon the ability of high grade men and we make it a point to have none other in our employ. “We also are prepared to do all kinds of hauling and during the five years we have been in business we have covered just about every known angle of the hauling and trucking field. A consistently growing clientele is sufficient proof that we have made good in the business in a manner thoroughly satisfactory to both old and new customers.” ROOFING PROBLEMS SOLVED New Product Highly Efficient, Dealer Says. “Stop two leaks, one in your roof, one in your pocketbook," is the slogan of the Indianapolis Roofing Company, local distributors for Superelastic Roof Coating, a product guaranteed to be leak-proof for roofs, according to D. H. Wolfe, manager of the company. “Superelastic is a scientific compound of specially selected pure asbestos, waste-proof lacquer, hydrocar bon gums and non-volatile oils that is guaranteed positively to patch and re pair old and leaky roofs." Manager Wolfe said. "It hermetically seals ail rust holes, cracks, seSms, breaks and pin-holes. It preserves new roofing surfaces such An canvas, pare, felt, composition sheet iron or concrete. It will not bulge or shove bn the hottest day or crack and peel on the coldest day of the year. It quickly responds to contraction and expansion of all roofing surfaces as they heat and ogol, and is not affected when applied on a cold roof, but penetrates and ninds securely. “Asbestop. its chief ingredient, is fireproof. Its peculiar nature lo accredited with the long life of this ooatlng. Superelastic toughness with age. It is the longest lived coating I believe, mony can buy. It 1* extremely adhesive to any roofing sur face and repels weather attacks and climatic changes. It also resists successfully stresses, strains and wind friction. We believe it. to be the most economical of all roof coatings. Its case of application with an ordinary roof brush requires no heating or advance preparation. It will not harden

who are secretly striving to complete an Instrument which prove to the world that perpetual motion is possible. For these, radio comes forth to assist them. Today Marks 41st Anniversary Commemorating Labor's Birth
Labor day was observed officially for the first time in 1882. The celebra tion was decided on by the Central Labor Union, in New torn City. The first Monday in September seems to have been chosen because i it was toward the end of the summer i that the idea was suggested, and that j was the earliest convenient date. The union made its plans without any precedents to go by, but it made them very well indeed, and the celebration proved to be a gratifying sue- 1 cess. First there was a parade. Ap j propriate public speeches followed. Everybody was so well satisfied j that the Central Union adopted resolutions. soon afterward, in favor of a similar celebration on the first Monday in September regularly every year. May 1 is Labor day in most old world countries and in South America, but Labor in the United States has stuck to the choice originally made by the Central Union in New York, from that day to this. In 1884 the American Federation W Labor made the celebration its own j and it became national. Approved by Congress It had no legal standing, however, until 1887. when the various States, one after another, began to adopt it as a statutory holiday. They did not all name the first Monday in September, j but most of them did, and in 1894 Congress passed a bill making Labor day an occasion for the whole country to observe. The workers' celebration of forty years ago represented the high spirits of American labor's youth. Today it represents maturity, experience and j the character-forming stress of iccent years. in the package and always is ready for use. ''Superelastic is non-corrosive and: unequaled for metal coatings of every ! description, whether tin, iron or steel, i It is highly recommended for all I roofing surfaces subjected to the mv j ages of chemical vapors, sulphatei fumes, gas, salt brine anil the unusual j action of the weather. We recom i mend it part'oularly for coating gravel I and felt roofing surfaces. It works smoothly under the brush and an or- | dinary workman can coat 400 square feet of ordinary roof In an hour. “We have taken particular pains with our service department and It has become a clearing house of tooling experience. We gladly answer any questions regarding roofing problems at all times." Authorizes Bond Issue The East Chicago and Indiana Harbor Water Company has received authorization to issue and sell $67,500 in 5 per cent mortgage gold bonds, maturing in 1927, for the purpose of making additions to Its plant.
grating, grinding noise that spoils many a radio concert and makes life miserable for the amateur. From a scientific viewpoint, static is nothing but an atmospheric disturbance. Ah, there’s something in the air that causes this noise! And a radio antenna is what collects it! Do you get the idea? Noise—or sound—is a product of energy. Energy out of the air!
It is not quite the kind of a celebration that once it was. In the old days it had in Its something more perhaps of the exuberance of 21—of strength and energy and promise, but of nothing like the sound, sober thoughtfulness, the pride of achieverrft-nt, the confidence in itself that it represents in this year 1922. CARBURETOR EXHIBIT * Interesting Display for Motorists at State Fair. Motor car owners who have worried about carburetor troubles without ever getting a full understanding of the remedies will welcome the ex hibit of the Marvel Carburetor Sales Company at the State fair this week Every possible feature of carburetor design will be shown anj explained carefully, according to an official of the company. "Our display will include all types of carburetors and we will show the methods of installing and handling on different makes of automobiles In addition wc will have a corps Ofi carburetor experts on hand to explain to the repairman and owner Just how to get the best results. "A novel feature of the exhibit is the one showing the process of rebuilding old Marvel carburetors Into new ones fully covered by an ironclad guarantee. We also will showthe very latest development In the science of enrburetion, the application of heat directly to the carburetor and intake manifold. This always has been used on our product, but we have Improved it and has been approved by concerns such as the Buick, Nash and Oakland Motor Car Companies. "One of our strongest appeals to the public in Indianapolis Is our service. We have perfected a service at our station. 926 K. Washington St*, which cannot but appeal to any cne who ever has experienced carburetor trouble, and what motorist has not? "We employ only the best trained and most thoroughly equipped ex parts: men who have specialized in this particular work and have a com plete grasp on its problems. Asa result we have been able to send many a motorist away with smiles who came to us almost hopeless of ever accomplishing anything with his carburetion. "The carburetor Is really the most vital part, of a motor, and one that causes ihe most trouble, because ofthe lack of understanding on the part of the average car owner and mechanic.”

There’s the solution to the perpetual motion puzzle. There may be friction. There may be other waste while the penpetual motion machine is running, but so long as' it derives its energy out of the air, it might be made to keep going forever, in spite of this waste. So long as the earth revolves, this supply of energy will be at hand. Why not use it?
FARM DRUDGERY THING OF PSST Labor Saving Devices Revolutionize Rural Life- Modern Equipment Adds Interest. Old time drudgery around home and in business has been abolished to a. large extent by modern labor-saving devices is the opinion expressed by Joseph Hayes of the firm of Hayes Brothers, heating, plumbing, ventilating, power plant and drainage contractors. "Devices such as these have taken away the burdensome slavish toil which made farm lifts so distasteful to the young men and women only a few years ago," he said. "This distate was responsible for a great deal of the away-frem-the-farm movement which has been the cause of so many investigations and wide discuss on. "The perfecting of small, compact, easily operated electrical power and lighting devices has been the greatest back-to-the-farm factor of recent years They have carried to the rural communities the advantages of city life regardless of the fact that in the country there are no large, central electrical power plants available for service. "It has been the experience of our concern that one of the best of these labor saving devices is the Koehler, which combines the gasoline engine with the electric generator so that It can be operated with perfect safety at a relatively low cost. The machine is designed to serve as an electric lighting system for the home and at the same time supply power sufficient to operate a washing machine electric sweeper, electric iron and an automatic running water system. "The Koehler is adaptable to sepa rators. pumps, feed grinders, chums, pumps, feed cutters and numerous other pieces of farm machinery which can be operated by electricity. It has proved exceptionally popular and valuable to the suburban and rural dweller. "Our business has grown because of the character of service we have been able to give customers, I believe. The day when a Job once done or an article once sold finished for all time the relation between customer and seller as far aj that particular transaction was concerned, fortunate !> is gone forever. It always has been our rule to give the very best service on any work done by us for we realized that this meant repeat orders. and the success of the plan has proved beyond a doubt that the public fully appreciated the service given by us."
