EDDIE WEBBER COMES BACK
Fort Fights Are Fast arid Main Go Is Draw in Ten Rounds. Fighting furiously at the end of ten rounds In an effort to gain a slight margin if one was to be gained. rrankie Jones of Louisville, and Bating Budd of Atlanta. Ga.. welterweights. treated the Ft. Harrison fight fans to a snappy ring encounter. The referees decision of a draw was well received. Carrying a strong left jab and possessing skill at long range fighting Budd started fast and gained a shade in the opening round. In the remaining rounds it was nip and tuck with honors about even. Starting the tenth round even both boys fought desperately in an effort to gain an edge. The bell found both of them in the center exchanging blow for blow. When Referee Clark raised the hands of both boys the large crowd went wild with approval. Another match between the boys may be arranged in September. Eddie Webber, former ring artist and “fighting street car man,” effected a wonderful comeback in the semiwindup with Yank Druley of Richmond, by gaining five of the eight rounds. Two were even and Druley had one. Webber started fast and in the first round three things hit at once. Webber hit Druley with one of his famous haymakers and Druley hit the canvas, the bell hit at the same time, however, and fast work by ills seconds brought the Richmond boy back. Webber cut Druley’s left eye and battered his face, but lacked the steam for a K. O. In the preliminary Eddie Dyer, formerly of Texas, but who announced before the show that from now on he Wsvill fight out of Indianapolis, won on pi foul from Frankie Burns, a local boy.
