PRICE TREND UPWARD AFTER HEAVYSELLING Market's Appetite for Stock Issues Demonstrated After Failure. AIDED BY LIQUIDATION Professionals Attempt to Exploit Developments on Railroads. TWENTY STOCKS AVERAGE NEW YORK. July 14.—Twenty Industrial stocks Thursday averaged 94.65, off .23 per cent. Twenty active rails averaged 86.47, off .48 per cent. By United Press NEW YORK, July 14.—The Wall Street Journal today savs: Once more tne principal drift of prices was upward on the New York Stock Exchange today. At times, the advance In several industrial features was quite impressive, while the manner in which heavy selling was absorbed following the announcement of a stock exchange failure during the morning left no doubt as to the market's appetite for stocks. Aided by liquidation, which was ascribed to financial difficulties of an | individual firm, professionals at- ! tempted to exploit unpleasant developments of the railroad strike. But ! when recessions of 1 to 4 points had forced in some wide-moving industrials, solid resistance was met in the j form of influential buying support. After an abrupt recovery, the market was steady for the remainder of the session. Fresh forward moves were started in several sections of the industrial group and the force of which Studebaker, American Can, Consolidated Gas and Columbia Gas and Electric achieved record levels for this year. MONEY AND EXCHANGE Indianapolis bank clearings Friday were $3,945,000; bank debits, $5,784,000. By United Financial NEW YORK. Seventeen Failures to One Success FOR thirty-three years the Polar Ice and Fuel Cos. have been selling Indianapolis frozen water, or Ice, and have built a successful business and made a fair profit. Making and selling Ice has always seemed an easy means of gaining success and many have followed the rainbow, but have failed to reach Its promised end. When this company started in business there were seventeen companies in Indianapolis making ice. Today not one of those companies are in business. Beside those seventeen original companies, many others have started only to fail. No other line of business in Indianapolis has such a trail of wrecks. This Company has weathered tha storm, but not without a struggle. POLAR ICE AND FUEL COMPANY Twenty-Five Cash and Carry Stations There’s One in Your Neighborhood
