GREAT BRITAIN'S NEW BANK RATE WILLAID TRADE Drop Held Best Proof of Financial Recovery of Nation. LOWEST.IN THIRTEEN YEARS * Return Expected to Prove Stimulus to Ail Lines of . Industry, By United yew* LONDON, Jusy 14.—The most Big- ; niflcant Indication of Great Britain’s financial recovery is the reduction of the bank rate to three per cent. Not i since 1909 has the rate been lower. The fact that the rate is now for the first time back to a pre-war basis is generally heralded by both bankers and those in Government quarters. The return to the three per cent rate is expected to prove a great stimulus to trade. Members of the stock exchange acclaimed the decision with enthusiasm, believing it will prove a J stimulant to all investment securities. ; The reduction is also considered es- ; pecially timely in view of the pend- > ing debt-funding negotiations with the United States.
