REPAIR KIT PROVES SUCCESS Road Side Punctures No Longer Terror of Car Owners. To Indiannpolis has fallen the honor of originating and putting into practice one of the greatest and most successful automobile accessory merchandising plans ever used, according to an official of the Robert M. Bowes Company, 124-126 E. Ohio St., manufacturers and distributors of the wellknown Seal-Fast Minuteman repair kit for the repair of automobile, motorcycle and bicycle tubes. “It has been our idea from the first," he said in explaniing his plan, “that if a mercant has a good product that can be counted upon to do all or more than he claims for it the proper thing to do is to give demonstrations showing just exactly what may bo expected of the article in question. “In accordance with this plan I believe Seal Fast has been shown in practically every part of the country'. Any motorist who ever has been stuck miles away from a tire service station with a punctured tube and no repair kit, and most all of them have been, takes very kindly to idea of purchasing a kit W'hieh he has seen put in actual use in accessory store. “And we have the utmost confidence in our product, a confidence born of long experience with it and based on the splendid results we have obtained. Seal-Fast repairs punctures and blowouts. It is safely and quickly applied. No heat, cement, gasoline or cumbersome equipment is required. It is a well-known fact that in Seal-Fast all disadvantages of other means of quick repair are done away with. SealFast repairs are applied by the use of our solvent and rubber welding compound which partially devulcanizes the tube and welds the repair into an integral part of the tune. "It Is ideal for road-side repairs, which is the prirho reason why most motorists buy a kit. It has been proved popular with them because it is extremely economical and saves much precious time. It is, I feel sure, one of the fastest tube repairs in existence as well as one of the surest. “Our faith in the product has led us to make our famous “money back guarantee” and the fact that we are not called upon to refund money is the surest proof that our product has proved satisfactory to the motoring public." Merchants realize that slow moving merchandise is a liability to the dealer and not an asset, and the fast selling qualities of Seal-Fast have made it a i most popular article with the dealer; as well as with the automobile owner.” ; AUTOISTS PROFIT BY SERVICE Tire Changes Need Worry Car Owners No Longer, Dealer Says. Blowouts, punctures and all the thousand and one inconvenient, tem-j per destroying things that can hap pen to an automobile tire no longer i need have any terrors for motorists who are customers of the Lee Tire Service Company', 37 West Vermont | street, according to H. D. Tumoleson J manager of the company. “Motorists who have bound them !

selves out on the road, far from home, dressed up in their best clothes, and then hear the most unwelcome of all sounds on such occasions, the bang of a blowout right on the hottest, sunniest, dustiest bit of road they ever saw, will appreciate the immediate help and first aid our com pany is able to give,” Mr. Tumbleson said. “Free road service to motorists is one of the outstanding characteristics of our business. We take particular pride in this, and our fleet of service cars is at the disposal of the motoring public every minute of every day of the year. When anew tire is to be delivered we make no limitation as to the distance we go. The unfortunate motorist who is caught with a worn-out tire anywhere may rest assured that we wiU give him the very speediest and highest grade service possible in the delivery of anew tire to him. “The best proof of the success of its merchandising methods a concern ; can have are satisfied customers. The fact that our business has grown even in excess of the fondest expec tations of its founders, and the fact the number of our customers has increased at an astounding rate is the best possible proof that we have satisfied the public both as to the quality of our tires and supplies ajid our service. ■ “Transient trade receives particular attention from us. To do this has been one of our rules from the very first. This is only as the rule of the square deal applied in the motoring world. At some time or another al most every' automobile owner takes a long trip and gets off the beaten i tracks usually followed by him and i away from his usual business con- j nections. It is only right and fair j that these tourists and travelers should be oared for properly and given the same degree of service they ; would get at home. Asa result of i our policy in this respect we have j made a host of friends all over the i United States, for Indianapolis draw* j motorists from every part of the I country. “In the automobile industry serv- j ice is particularly valuable, and this i holds true with unusual potency in j the tire branch of the industry. Ovei j h long peri oil of years tires were sold j with little or no attention to the vital j element of service and we made up j our minds long ago that our telephone number. Circle 3000. would eventu-! ally como to stand in the minds ot ! motorists for courteous treatment and j real service." ’ PROUD OF SERVICE RECORD Ice Company Enters Upon ThirtyThird Year of Business Bring on the summer time, with all: the heat and sweltering weather, for! it holds no terrors to one Indianapolis j concern which for thirty-three years; has manufactured ice for local consumers. is the sentiment expressed by j Henry Dlthmer. president of the Polar ; Ice and Fuel Company. No matter how hot it gets we are j prepared to keep our customers cool," | Mr. Dlthmer said. “We are particularly proud of our long record of serv- j ice to the ice consumers of Indian-1 apolis and we believe we have a Just'

right to be so. It was in 1889 that our company first began operations and after thirty-three years of continuous service we know that we have filled a place in the life of Indianapolis. During all that period there never has been a time when our customers ever experienced the woes and inconveniences of an ice famine. We feel this is a remarkable record, knowing as w'a do the serious ice famines which have befallen ice consumers in many other cities. "We have had a various clientele and have supplied ice to butchers, ice cream merchants, restaurants, druggists, hotels, families and last, but far from least in point of importance, to hospitals. “We have customers whose demands range all the way from • twenty-five pounds daily to as much as 100,000 pounds, and throughout the thirty three years of our existence it has been our unvarying policy to give the same consideration to the little consumer that is given the large one. This policy of one standard of service, the highest we could make it, has been one of the reasons of our continued success and popularity with our customers. In fact some of our customers have depended upon us exclusively for their ice for a period of at least twenty years. “On thiß. our thirty-third anniversary', it is the desire of the Poplar Ice and Fuel Company to express its appreciation to all our customers, both new and old, for the confidence they have placed in us as evidenced by their patronage. Particularly we want to be assured that there will be no change in our policy and that in the future their requirements will receive the earn# consideration they have in the past. “When a concern has been in business as long as ours It naturally builds up a morale, an individuality and a standard of service, and we feel that this standard will be maintained under all conditions in the future just as it lias been in the past.” EXHAUST MAKES BLISTERS Ohio Motorcycle Rider Applies Salve to His Legs. BKLLAXRJB. Ohio. July 3.—William Yocum Is applying sal\~ to blisters on his leg*. He would even carry a can of water that would Bpray the pedal extremities when their temperature reaches a certain point. Just as do the sprinkler systems in buildings. While riding his motorbike along Guernsey street. Yocum discovered that the exhaust had set his trousers on fire. Oil and gasoline had ignited. Abandoning the machine, he ran to a garage, where he was ‘extinguished’ by a car washer's hose. Drs. F. S. Wright and P. L. King dressed the burns. The motorcycle was completely ruined.

SCIENCE IS AID TO BEAUTY Toilet Requisites Perfected After Years of Labor. Development and perfection of successful and popular toilet articles take far more time, skill and patience than ' most persons realize, is the opinion expressed by Mrs. Abel, 8 E. Market St., distributor for John Blocki & Son, Inc., of Chicago. According to her it has taken almost forty y'ears to bring some of the articles distributed by her to their present state of perfection. In speaking of this Mrs. Abel said: "Hygienic toilet articles were originI ated in 1885 by John Blocki, a famous chemist of his time, and for more than I thirty years they have been produced Iby the same concern. Our particular ; specialties have beea soaps, cleansers, I creams and face powders and we have ! taken particular pains to adapt our | products to the individual needs with an exactness which makes them unusually effective in obtaining results. “It was particularly pleasing to us to discover that our exhibit at the Home Complete exposition at the State fair ground recently, the ‘Esprit j d’Amour’ exhibit, was one of the most talked of on the grounds. "We certainly have been flattered with the many favorable comments rei ceived by us after the exposition : ended. Naturally we were pleased with the showing we made at the exposii tion, but we had no idea it had attained the popularity It reached. In fact long after the display came to a j close favorable comments continued to | pour in on us, and finally we realized that the Esprit d‘ Amour display had j been one of the c'utstanding features j of the show, a show marked by un- ! usually attractive and artistic exhibits. “We made a determined and sincere I effort to give every one at the show ! an aroma of Esprit d'Amour and I i believe W'e succeeded to an astonishing j degree from ail I have heard. Since j 1907 my specially trained corps of re- | tailers and myself have been engaged actively engaged in presenting to the women of Indianapolis hygienic toilet articles and requisites and Flower-in-The-Bottle perfumes. Asa result there are many persons who call on us constantly for dependable and reliable instructions for the care of scalp and skin, oily, dry and normal. We have [solved the perplexing problems of i more women than we can recall. “To keep or attain that most desirable possession of a lovely skin, requires unremitting care. But by the exercise of care and proper treatment unbeautiful evidences of age or neglect may be removed. It is to ; make this as easy as possible that we have developed the toilet requisites which have done so much for women for many years past.”
