Miss Naomi Cochrane, 1304 North Pennsylvania 6tr.l, formerly employed as teller at the Indiana National Bank, who Is under Indictment in Federal Court charted with violation of the national bankint laws, appeared before Judge Albert B. Anderson yesterday and changed her plea of not guilty entered several weeks ago to guilty on two counts of one indictment. This Indictment charges that she embezzled funds amounting to $377 prior to Feb. 23, 1022. .She also in indicted j Jointly with Clarence Wamper, a former employe of the bank, on charges growing out of another transaction. tY.impncr has entered a plea of not guilty in this case, and Miss Cochrane allowed her plea of not guilty to stand in this case. C. OF C. WILL OPPOSE PLAN TO MOVE POST Secretary Reynolds Writes to Senator New Stating Opinions. Despite the definite announcement made by the War Department that the Fifth Corps Area Headquarters of the Army would be moved fr-m Ft. Benjamin Harrison. John B. Reynolds, general seere ary of the Chamber of Commerce, Is ■till ushig every possible line of influence to prevent this. Tn a letter to Senator Harry S. New today. Mr. Reynolds supplies the Senator with the information that the moving or the Fifth Corps Aera H-adquar-t >rs will not only cost from s<;n.ooo to $73,000, but that the Third, Fourth and Seventh Corns headquarters nr.- being moved from forts into cities where rent must be paid, while the War Department gave as Its principal reason for ordering the removal of the Fifth Corps Area headquarters from Fr. Benjamin Harrison, “a saving of money.” REYNOLDS LETTER STATES OPPOSITION. Mr. Reynolds’ letter to Senator New 1? as follows: "Since my latter to tha Secretary of War, copy of which was sent you. a copy of the order of May 11, embodying the plan for distribution of the Regular Army, has come to my possession. I notice wi’h soma surprise that Third Corps Area headquarters are ordered lu Baltimore from Ft. Howard. Fourth t'orps Area headquarters will bo moved from Ft. McPherson to Atlanta and Seventh Corps Area headquarters from Ft. Crook to Omaha. “This does not seem consistent with the line of reasoning adopted with regard to the Fifth Corps Area headquarters. If reasons of economy do not prevent sending these other headquarters into cities whore rent must be paid, why is it so essential to avoid a similar expense In regard to Indlannpolis end svnd the headquarters for this area to a Government post that will be the source of considerable expenditure of funds to put It into shape for use. CAM.!' ATTHNTION TO M'DDEN ACTION. "I have beer told that it will cost from ynn.ooo to $75,000 to effort the necessary changes and cover th-- cost of moving. It. was also suggested that an appeal had been made to President Harding and that this resulted In a change of plans as pro. viously announced. Asa matter of facr, th.. decision to go to Columbus Barracks seems to have been made almost overnight. although this may not have been the ease, and I am only bringing these unverified rumors to your attention as having some possible bearing on the matter. "If the cost of moving is anything like that mentioned. *t would not be of any particular advantage to make the move from Indianapolis and in the hope if effecting a reconsideration at this late date I am sending this appeal. Available quarters at fair rental can be bad here and it would be very gratifying if those in authority would reopen the case and assign to it other officers than those who made the first Inspection.” BOY Rt.'St!HANGERS. MELBOrXKE. May SO.--Copying the methods of bushrangers Leroy Banks and Thomas Maple, each aged I'. terrorized the Neerim district for a week. Finally trapped. Banks surrendered, but Maple fought until killed. MAN A PROMOTED REPTILE. LONDON, May SO.—According to Elliott O'Donnell, writer ou psychic subjects, “the purpose of the ult ra-feininist movement now in fail swing is to establish the fact that man is merely a promoted reptile.” LETTERS FROM THE DEAD. PORTSMOUTH, England. May 30. Relatives of three of the sailors lost when the submarine II 42 was sank several weeks ago have just received letters' svMUled at foreign ports by the victims. HOW T OKEEP YOUNG. MANCHESTER. England, May .';().— Dame Genevieve Ward, now $5 years old, gives this recipe for keeping young: "Keep busy; avoid over eating and overdrinking; don't worry.”
