BALTIMORE. Md., May 27.—P00r marksmanship alone prevented a possible heavy casualty toll when prohibition agents and police on one 6lde and bootleggers and a crowd of 1,500 sympathizers of the latter exchanged a score of shots in a congested district during a raid here today. As it was, oue bootlegger was shot through the fa< - e and Is in a serious condition today. A large quantity of illicit liquor was seized. Four men were ar- 1 rested earlier, during a raid on a store, by the same prohibition agents. SOUTHERN CLUB PLANS MEMORIAL Confederate Monument to Be Scene of Exercises. The Southern Club of Indianapolis, an rganlzation composed of Southerners who live in Indianapolis, will hold services at the Confederate monument, at old Green Lawn cemetery. Kentucky avenue and White river, at 4:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. This club some time ago projected the plan of removing the Confederate monument to Garfield r*>rk. The consent of the Government was obtained, and also the permission of the park board of Indianapolis. The matter Is now In the hands of Congress, awaiting passage of a bill creating a fund to do this work. This matter has been In charge of C. 3. Prentiss and Eugene Fisher, former president of the club, and David Pralgg, the present president, and Frank B. Flantier.
