WORLD DAIRY CONGRESS TO MEET IN 1923 Delegates From All Parts of World Will Attend Big Meeting. WASHINGTON, May 26.—The suggestion of the Argentine Republic in 191!) that the United States Government take the lead in a movement for the holding of' a great international dairy conference Is to bear fruit next year. In October, 1923, the World's Dairy Congress will convene in this country under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture. Under authority granted by Congress in 1921, President Harding is expected shortly to Invite foreign Governments to send representatives to the I'nited States to attend and to take part lu the meeting. The dairy congress was to be held this year, but by a joint resolution adopted by the Senate and the House in December, 1921, the date of the opening of the meeting was postponed from 1922 to 1923 so that its scope could be broadened. Four cities have already entered Into competition for the honor of entertaining the half a million persons who will come to this country from all parts of the world to take part in the discussions incident to the conference and to exhibit their dairy products and machinery. They ore: Washington, Philadelphia, St. Paul and Indianapolis. Other invitations are expected to be received by the Worldls Dairy Congress Association when plans for the big international meeting become more generally known. The program for the conference has been placed under four general divisions as follows: (1) The exchange of the scientific knowledge underlying the development of the dairy industry. (2) The readjustment of business conditions through makius clear tho world movements of dairy products, dairy cattle, dairy machinery and by the study of the forces that determine market prices. (3) The study of the problem of regulation and control, the health of cities and the nutrition of children. (4) The arousing of a wider appreciation of the food value of milk products. The congress will be the first International dairy meeting ever held in the United States. Americans will have an opportunity at the show to study exhibits from foreign countries, and foreigners who came here will see a graphic presentation of tho achievements of the I'nited States in dairying, cattle breeding, machinery and methods in the dairy and hilled Industries.
