HARRISON GOES AFTER HARDING Because of Alleged Dismissal of Former Service Men. WASHINGTON, May The Administration was attacked in the Senate Tuesday by Senator Harrison, Democrat, of Mississippi, "for discharging former soldiers and sailors from the public service.” His attack followed an unfavorable report from the Senate Civil Service Committee on a resolution which asked for an explanation of the discharge. CONTRACTS FOR SHOALS CONTROL Ford Must Organize $10,000,000 Company. WASHINGTON. May 3.—The tentative contract of Henry Ford, under which he would operate the Muscle Shoals nitrate project, was amended to compel him to organize an operating corporation with no less than SIO,OOO i)00 capital. The original contract submitted by Ford contained no financial provisions for the corporation, but the amendment was offered before the \griouitural Committee of the Senate, as an evidence of Ford's good intentions. The corporations would be directed by a board of nine members, seven of whom would represent agricultural organizations of the country. Asks Changes in Stockyards Law WASHINGTON. May 3—Changes in the packers' and stockyards law to permit enforcement of Minnesota State laws with respect to weighing of cattle at the St. Paui stockyards, was urged on th“ House -Agriculture Committee by Fred B. Putnam, a member of the Minnesota railroad and warehouse commission. At the St. Paul stockyards the State supervises the weighing of catt). requiring fees from the traders and bonds for commission men doing business at the yards. Under the Federal law the Gov eminent supervises the weighing and requires no bonds from the commission men.
