POLICE INQUIRY INTO MYSTERY OF S KILLINGS Prisoner May Be Female Borgia if Theories Are Well Founded. CLEVELAND, Mar 3. —“Think of the fan we could have if Joe died suddenly with all his insurance money to spend.” This statement, attributed to a woman held on a grand larceny charge in the county Jail, while Coroner H. A. Hammond exhumes the body of her soldier husband, was told to Prosecutor Edward C. Stanton as he probed into a case which he thinks may reveal five murders —all the work of a female Borgia, ae cording to the police theory—three of them former husbands and two of them her children. According to facts already gathered, the woman prisoner has been married ft re imes—she was twW divorced, while her other husbands died under suspicious circumstances. Her last husband. It is said, died about a year ago, shortly after an application for an increase in his $5,000 Government insurance policy had been refused. One of the other husbands had carried a policy of $5,000, while the other carried SI,OOO, afl of which was paid to the widow, according to information in Prosecutor Stanton's hands. I'pon the outcome of the chemical examination which will be made within the next few days will depend whether or not the larceny charge Is changed to murder, it was said.
