GERMANS TRY TO SELL ARMS . Court Action May Lead to Filing of Swindling Charges. BERLIN, March 24—The Caasandras. who preach that Germany still la well armed and ready tor a war of revenge despite all the efforts of the Inter-allied disarmament commission, may find material for their fears, in some of the trials scheduled for next week in which seven Germans, several of high social position, are charged with attempts to dispose ol millions of army rifles. The defendants are indicted for offering to sell no less than seventeen million rifles in three separate lots to various South American and Russian states. This colossal arsenal, of course, represents about the entire armament in small arms of the German army during the war, but It Is understood the rifles existed chiefly on paper and the culprits are more in danger of charges for swindling than so technical violation of the law prohibition transactions in war material. A hereditary prince and a former member of the German diplomatic corps, who are Involved, have thus far escaped arrest, but have not been able to shield a number of officers and bank officials.— Copyright, 1022, by Public Ledger Company. Road Work Brings Suit Against County Judgment tor 57.500 was asked in a suit filed agaiitst county officials yesterday in Superior Court room 2, by J. Harry Roberts. The defendants named by Roberts are H. M. Kleiser, Leo K. Fester, county auditor, and Ralph A. Lemcke, county treasurer. A writ of garnishment is also requested on $2,500 which the county Is said to owe to Kleiser as part payment for the construction of the Starkey road. Contract Let on §825 Bid Over One for §725 The contract to paint the service building at the Sunnyside Tuberculosis Hospital was awarded to Myers & Reith, 29% North Alabama street, yesterday afternoon at the meeting of the Marlon County board of commissioners. The company's bid was SS2S. The contract was let to Myers & Reith over another bid of $725 made by IV. J. Cole. NEW RIVAL FOR C. 8. CANTLET.
