CULVER PLANS TO ENTERTAIN LEGIONNAIRES Third Conference Will Be Held at Military Academy Sunday and Monday. CTLVER, Ind., March 24.—Two days of entertainment, with the proper degree of “business before pleasure" await the post commanders and adjutants and other legionnaires of the Indiana department, who are due to arrive here Sunday and Monday for the third Culver conference of the American Legion. All visiting delegates will be guests of the i rustees of Culver Military Academy, and the academy officials and the corps of cadets have prepared to give their guests a hearty welcome. The conference will open at 9 o'clock Monday morning, with the new ritual adopted at the last national convention. Following this ceremony there will be an address of welcome by Gen. L. R. Gignllliat, past State commander and superintendent of the academy. Talks by Claude E. Gregg, State commander; Frank H. Henley, the department adjutant, and others will occupy the morning session. MACXTDER WILL REVIEW CADETS. The most spectacular event on the program will be a review of the cadet corps Monday afternoon by Hanford MacNider, the national commander of the American Legion. The review will be followed by an exhibition of riding of the Culver Black Horse Troop, driving by the Culver battery of artillery, and calisthenlc exercises by the two battalions of infantry. A business session will follow the review and the exhibitions. The final business session will be held Tuesday morning. Many of the visitors are expected Sunday night, and, for their entertainment there will be a show by the dramatic class and an exhibition In the swimming pool, followed by a free-for-all swim. This will be the occasion for several boxing matci.es by cadets and some special stunts which have been added to the program to give the legionnaires themselves a chance to engage in a little mit work and to show their prowess in various other arts. The Culver band will render a program of special music, picturing the genesis of military music and its development down to the twentieth century. This will be illustrated with a series of nine tableaus, all to be posed by cadets. “Training L>r Leadership,” a two reel motion picture showing the life of a cadet at Culver and how cadets are trained to be reserve officers In the R. O. T. C. units, will be shown. Commander MacXider will Le tendered special honors by the cadets. He will be made an honorary member of the Black Horse Troop, which has traditions that date from the McKinley Inauguration twenty-five years ago. He will be presented with an English riding saddle and a set of saddle bags on his induction into the troop. About 300 are expected. In addition to Commander Macntder and Commander Gregg, several othet Legion notables are expected, among them Lemuel Bolles, the national adjutant, Colonel Owsley, the chairman of the national Americanisation committee; Judge Raymond Springer, past State commander; and Oswald Ryan, Indiana national committeeman.
