An elaborate rose garden will be tfce contribution of the State Florists' Association of Indiana to the fifth National Flower Show, in the Manufacturer's Building’ at the State fairground, March 115 to April 1. A committee composed of John Rieman, chairman; Alvin Schrelber, and John Hartje has been appointed to plan the garden and to arrange for its installation. Florists from all over Indiana will contribute their choicest rose plants and flowers for this display. During the week of the flower show the State Florists’ Association will have a banquet in honor of visiting florists. A banquet committee, composed of Otto Laurens, chairman; C. B. Balluff aud John Kilcoyne, has been appointed to make arrangements for this dinner, the 4ate for which has not yet been definitely •xed. Practically all of the leading lunch clubs of the city have arranged tc have National Flower Show representatives give short illustrated talks at their meeting during the next two weeks. Hearty cooperation is being encountered on all sides by the National Flower Show officials, and from the large number of applications for space now being received from all parts of the country, the prospect for the show, according to Irwin Bertermann, chairman of the local executive committee, is that it will surpass in size and beauty previous shows of its kind. Efforts of the out of town exhibits committee of which E. H. Mann of Richmond, is the chairman, are being concentrated on securing a fine display of orchids. Practically all of the other extensive exhibits which the National Flower Show committee had hoped to have included in the show have been arranged for. and close attention is now being paid to small retail exhibits, which, because of their variety, are always one of the most enjoyable parts of the show. The employment of flowers for tabic adornment in decorating individual rooms, and their use for decorations of every kind will be demonstrated by retail exhibitors.

KRUPP WORKS HEAD OUT FOR AMBASSADOR OUo Wiedfeldt of Younger Generation Suited for U. S. Post, Claim. BERLIN, March 10.—Otto Wiedfeldt, chairman of the directors of the great Krupp Works at Essen, today entered the field as a candidate for the post of German ambassador to the United States. Herr Wiedfeldt is a member of the younger generation and is a constructive business man. Friends of the diplomatic aspirant say he has progressive ideas aud that he is not bound by any entangling political affiliations. He enjoys the fullest confidence of German business men, especially the big industrialists who believe he is better fitted for the Washington post than any of the old line diplomats. Herr Wiedfeldt, they say, would introduce business methods in diplomacy which would make a hit with the American people. It is felt here that the old-time diplo-

mats have been discredited along with their secret methods. Herr Wiedfeldt, by hls executive ability and commercial skill, has converted Krupps from the biggest armaments plant in the world into a strictly peace industry, turning out locomotives, motor oarts and agricultural Implements. He i njoys the disttntclon of being a successful mediator. He Is given personal credit for averting the downfall of Chancellor Wirth. On account of the depreciation of the German mark, It is necessary that the next German ambassador at Washington be a multimillionaire. Herr Wiedfeldt has a gigantic fortune. Herr Hermes and other aspirants who are not rich are virtually out of the race now. Jazz Age Waning, Declares the Doc PORTLAND, Maine, March 10—This ts the jazz age, according to Dr. Lemuel H. There’s Everything to Be Admired in New Spring Capes and Coats There’s no one feature that deserves to be “played up” more than any other in telling of the merits of the new arrivals, because they are genuinely and thoroughly good and smart. And, in addition to that, many strike anew note of cleverness. For instance, the knitted cape at the left has a round collar made of yarn roses. It comes in tangerine with a very deep blue stripe in a border around the bottom, in violet with gray, in buff with brown, in black and white angora. But not all of these have the yarn-rose collars. Some are just as distinctive with other kinds of collars and facings (some of the latter show pockets). For town, motor, sports and country club wear. And only $39.50 and $45.00. Worumbo camelshair coats, tweeds with fringed scarfs, over- , plaids from Burberry of London, these are some of the general .types ultra smart for spring. Turro cloth capes and coats range from $22.50 to $35.00. And the very dressy sort of wrap and coat, above the $50.00 mark. —Ayres—Coat section, third floor.
Tempting New Skirts Equally Tempting as to Price At $5.95, the new sports skirts offered to you for choice are fetching in style, spring-like in color, mighty good for the money.
