HOME BUILDING SERIOUS WORK Well Built House Safe Investment, Expert SaysThere are three necessary elements in the construction of a satisfactory homo, etability, comfort anil beauty, In the opinion of R. B. Insley of Robert B. Insley A Cos., 705 National City Bank building, and this kind of a building, he went on to explain, can only be built by a coiepany that puts Into every structure it builds the very best business reputation and good will. In this connection, Mr. Insley said: ‘‘l am a standpatter on the matter of quality in home building, for two principal reasons: A well-built house, the same as a 6ult of clothes, pair of shoes or other article of usefulness, will always give more satisfaction, comfort and service to the owner anl will prove a safer Investment. “My second reason Is dictated by sound business policy—that a company engaged In building homes for others should never lose sight of the desirability of building into every one of its structures a liberal measure of what we caU business reputation and good will. “The building of a homo is really a ■erious matter. This house-buying or house building business is almost as serious for the home seeker as the choosing of a husband or wife, as In Hinny cases you will be married to that house and must live under the same roof with It “for better or for worse. ' W& may buy clothes, Jewelry, books, furniture and other personel effects, keeps them about us so long as they are pleasing or use ful, and put them aside when we are tired of them. “But the dwelling in which ws have often invented our savings of years and in which we live through years of mixed happiness and grief cannot—or at least should not —be easily cast aside. It Is most Important, therefore, ifiiat we should make no serioua errors In the planning and construction of our homes “It soems to be difficult for some of us to be entirely consistent in our buying. If we are In legal difficulty, we naturally seek out a lawyer of ability and character. If seriously 111, the best specialist la In demand and so on through most of the relations and exigencies of our everyday life, our sober Judgment and Instinct of seif-preserva-tion and money interest dictate and direct us to bny the best. “And, then—too often for our own good—we rush off and buy a half baked house and christion it ‘Our Home.' We should be Just as sober-minded and consistent in a matter of such vfta! moment, both to us and our children, financially, physically and morally, as the buying of a home. "If the home Is to be permanently satlfactory, it must combine, In right proportions the three basic elements of stability, comfort and beauty. These should be the controlling considerations in the planniug and making of a wellbalanced house for a home." When asked for his candid opinion Ss to the probable rise or fall of building costs, Mr. Insley said: “It is my opinion that an unprecedented building era is gradually developing In Indianapolis—Just as surely as the flood tide develops -an 1 that it will begin to bresk on us this spring. It is true that our economic conditions are •till somewhat out of Joint. Rut 1 have in mlud that our American people move quickly, once they get headed right, under proper leadership. We do things fast in this country Where we take the bit squarely between the Jaws and say, ‘Let's go.’ “I am also of the opinion that average

building costs are now about as low cs they are likely to be In the near future. What conditions will be at the end of say live years none of us are at all competent to say. 1 believe that persons contemplating the building of good homos will gain very little, if anything, by waiting for the rush. • I.abor is a'very considerable cost Item In building operations. When the strong building movement really does set in there is sure to be a demand for all first-class craftsmen in the building trades. “It is always false economy to attempt to. erect a high-grade structure with low-grade mechanics and incompetent overhead supervision. We rub elbows every day with the man or woman who has tried it, and is wiser and sadder therefor. In using the term ‘high grade’ in this connection, I lefer to high quality, not necessarily high cost. A modest cottage can be built right." SULPHUR A CURE FOR MANY ILLS Medicinal Value of Baths Long Recognized Fact. No man has yet been able to makt money more valuable than health, according to G. P. Cruzan, manager of tue Sulphur-Vapor Baths and Massage, 132 H West Washington street, and for this reason he says when a mau la 111 ho will spend money on a health-giving cure when he will not spend it on anything e,se. This, he said, has given rise to expensive, extensive and long pilgrimages to various health resorts and mineral water springs of curative qualities by patients in need of treatment. “In many Instances these trips are wholly unnecessary,” Mr. Cruzan said "This Is not because the waters do not effect the cures, but because tho same cure evuld be effected in exactly the same manner if the path-nt remained at home. It Is simply the difference of tnk ing the patient to the cure or brio the cure to the patient. “For example, at our establishment wo gfve sulphur baths by the famous Dr. Kruse system a system which I am convinced, after tho most careful study, is the most scientific in tho world for the treatment of rheumatism and kindred ailments. These treatments are available here at home and obviate tho mH-fcsfdty of persona traveling long dl* tnn'ees, at g-vat expense and taking valuable cm- from their business lu order to take sulphur baths. j “This custom of taking tho patient to the cure is in a vmy a survival of barbarism In the days, when scientific knowledge was in its infancy, it was taken for granted persons suffering from certain diseases must he taken to certain places where the curative agencies were present It took several thousand years -of development of human Intelligence to bring about a general realisation of the | fact these curative properties are as effective away from the place of their origin os they are in their native haunts. It Is a fact this 'dd idea still prevails among unintelligent persons oven yet. “One of the most recent and remarkable cures fur diseases of certain kinds is the Dr Kruse systora of sulphur tmths. These baths combine the medical properties of the famous sulphur and mineral springs with other curative minerals which make the baths capable of effecting remarkable and hitherto un-heard-of results “And the very best part of all of it Ib, these baths may be obtained rtght here in Indianapolis.”

CAFETERIA MAN BEATS OLD JINX Makes Success in Location Noted for Failures. It takes courage to go into business in a room over which a financial Jinx has hovered for years, and many wise, careful and aucceatful business men frankly admit they are Just superstitious enough to refuse to mix It with Mr. ; Jinx in a case of this kind, j However one Indianapolis business man met the Jinx and beat him at his i# own game. But almost four years of sticces has proved they were wrong and I was right In my Judgment a venture properly handled, could be made to succeed In that location. “I attribute my success largely to the fact the food served at the Denison Cafeteria always has been of the very best quality obtainable, aud I always 1 have been on hud to manage the business in person. It has been my observatlo nho buaicess can hope to succeed unless someone takes a Uefiuite, personnl Interest In it. Few businesses will carry themselves by their own momentum. "Last Thanksgiving I put in an or- ! chestra aud this has met with great popularity among our patrons. However, for those who do not care for music with their meals, we have provided a separate room where the customers may go Tn case they desire to have a quiet talk with their frelnds or business associates. i “It is not generally known but a fact nevertheless, no ‘comeback* (food left by patrons on the tables) ever is used over again. Soups, hash, Croquettes are made out of fresh, new foodstuffs. The old saying, ‘hash Is not made, it accumulates,' has no application at our place Even butter is not used a second time at the Denison. grade of work, according to an officer of the Stafford Engraving Company. “I doubt if greater improvement in the standard of work produced has been demanded and reached in any line of business than has been the case in companies of our kind,’’ he said. "We have kept pace with every modern idea ourselves until we have earned the title of ‘The ifoaise of leads.’ This title was bestowed on us only after the hardest kind o study of modern commercial demands on our part. “We turn out a wide line of conuner cial art work, including half tones, zinc etchings, color plates and, in addition, an extensive lino of engraved aud em bossed stationery. “The old days when any kind of a haphazard job would suit a customer has gone In business life never to return. In the twenty-nine years we have been in business we have seen wonderful developments of commercial art, and work that was considered the very climax of artistic perfection a decade ago would not receive a minute's consideration today. “Business houses have come to realize that nothing increases the selling power of their goods more than high grade commercial art work. In fact this Is one of the strongest selling factors in existence today, and as a result the demand for the very latest and best type of work of this sort Is constantly increasing.
