GOVERNOR TO HAVE NIGHT AT AUTO SHOW Rotary Club Arranges Special Event for Motor Display. MAYOR TO GIVE TALK Plans for Governor's night at the antomoblle show nest week are being made by the Indianapolis Rotary Club, of which Governor Warren T. McCray Is an honorary member, according to announcement by John B. Orman, auto show manager, today. It Is stated the members of the Indianapolis Athletic Clnb will hold full sway Wednesday night. Other special nights include a mystery night, details of which are being withheld at present. It is hinted a popular motion picture actret,’ and stage celebrity will be guest of honor at the show Tuesday evening. The opening ceremonies will be conducted Monday evening at 8 o’clock by Mayor Samuel Lewis Shank and O. B. lies, president of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. They will speak briefly from the new bandstand and the Canadian Kilties Band will uncork their Sdotch for a week of unusual musical entertainment. It is announced the admission of GO cents Includes the war tax. CONFESS MURDER AND ROBBERY Arrest of Nine Men Clears Many Mysteries. CHICAGO, March 2. —Confessions clearing up two murders and half a dozen robberies have been obtained according to the police, as the result of the arrest of nine men. The men are to be questioned further today on the chance of clearing up other crimes. The murder of John Soffel, president of the Maywood State Bank, during a recent robbery is one of the crimes which the police say has been solved. Among the men under arrest are Thomas Holden, John Barry, Charles McHugh, Albert Manning and Harry Hunter. Hunter is said to have been at one time an assistant cashier in a local bank and thp police credit him with "tipping off” several payroll robberies charged against the gang. Landis Without Political Ambition CHICAGO, March 2.—Kenesaw M. Landis, former Federal Judge, ard now high commissioner of baseball, has set at rest reports that he contemplates entering politics, possibly as a candidate for mayor of Chicago. In a letter to a friend Judge Landis wrote that it had not entered his head, “ever again to be interested in public office.” He plans to leave ; on March 10 for a tour of the big league ! training camps.
