FLAMES CAUSE HUGE LOSS TO GROCERY FIRM Mysterious Fire Ravages Warehouse—Damage Exceeds $40,000. A fire undermined origin did mew* than 8411000 damage to the building and stock of the D. "P. Childs Grocery Com* pany, CS7 East Washington street, today. *32Mrty-p!ght stores are supplied from the warehouse in East Washington etreet. In which more than $450,000 worth of merchandise was stored. The fire started In the rear of the building, which extend* from Washington to Pearl streets. The front of the building is a two-story structure and the rear one story. Great difficulty was experienced by the Aremen because of the manner In which supplies had been plied in the building.
