It is impracticable to mention names; to do so might render an injustice to valued workers. 1 wish to say it has been c pleasure to me to work with so many spiendi 1 men during the pa3t year in this great cause, and I am glad to say that every post in Marion County Is working together la harmony and have been but one object in view, that is the promotion of the welfare of the American Legion and of the community in which we live. 1 wish to bespeak at this time for my successor in office the same spirit -f -ordial cooperation that has been mine during the past year. May I remind you that there is nothing so harmful to the success of any organization as the spirit of back-biting and petty selfish Jealousy. There has been a minimum of that in my administration and 1 hope my successor may be equally as successful as I. Lot us all work together for the accomplishment of big things for Indianapolis ami Marlon County. The Amerb an Legion can be made the greatest P>rce for good in tiiicommunity. Let the fires of patriotism te kept burning here in our community and during the coming year may things grow better for Indianapolis and this county. The opportunity is ours, may we work together cordially In the spirit of complete cooperation to the end that we can do our part, the part of full-grown men. toward making this community a better place in which to live.” COUNCIL INDORSES BOXING BILL. Carpenter of Brazil, lud., representing the holiday offering of C:ay j county citizens for Armenian orphan | support, was a check from the Brazil j Times. • The size of the check makes the news- ' paper the fairy god-parent of a child of ! the Bilile lands. At relief headquarters I there is speculation ns to whether the I editor, the publishing company or the | entire force of the office. Is the “adopted parent” of the baby. In any event the newspaper becomes sponsor for the life :of one child for a year. “All of which shows,” said Secretary Mead A. Kelsey, "the fine spirit of the State press of Iu- ! diana in giving splendid support to our relief work.” Mrs. E. C. P.umpler, chairman of the woman's division of Near East Relief, with a message fresh from the land of stalking death, is in Carroll County to ; aid in raising that county’s quota for American orphan support. Mrs. R irnh-r will show the soul-reaching movie film, ‘Alice In Hungerland,” which scores a ; point for Near East Relief wherever given.
