NEW YORK WORD HALTS PLANS OF MRS. STILLMAN Banker’s Efforts to Forestall Canadian Commission May Stop Trip Into Wilds.. THREE RIVERS, Quebec, Jan. 6 Visibly worried by reports from New York that her husband’s attorneys had taken steps that may prevent the Canadian commission, which was to hear evidence in her divorce suit from being held, Mrs. Anne IT. Stillman today was undecided as to the advisability of continuing her trip into tue wilds to interview witnesses. Before she heard of the actio nos Cornelius J. Sullivan, James A. Stillman’s attorney ,who announced his client would refuse to pay the $7,500 necessary for the commission, Mrs. Stillman had planned to leave for Grand Anse to talk personally with a score or more of the French-Canadians who are to be called as witnesses. Fred Beauvais, who has been staying at the same hotel as Mrs. Stillman here, was to acompany her. Mrs. Stillman has not counplefcely abandoned her plans for the tri? into the North country, where she and Beauvais first met. She believed she cculd do her case more good by interviewing prospective witnesses than by remaining in Montreal. Most of the witnesses who will he called, it was said, are unfamiliar with the English language. DANVILLE WOMAN ENDS LIFE. DOG HILL PARAGRAFS 3 1 Yam Sims has at last broken into the theatrical world, and haj accepted a part in the amateur play in the Calf Rios neighborhood next Saturday night. He already knows his lines as all he has to do is to hand the villain a clparet in the third act. • • A movement was launched some time ago to get the Depity Constable to Join the church, as an example, but it fell through, as he said he could never attend, as he hai to watch those who do not go to church. Washington Hocks, recently let Sile Kildew have a dollar, and now, with other financiers, he can truthfully say that he has money loaned out.
