NEW YORK, Dec. 17.—“ Sir Arne’s Treasure.” a photoplay made in % Sweden by the Swedish Biograph Company and based on the novel of the same name by Selma Lagerlof, the famous Scandinavian writer, is a production of exceptional merit. The story is a powerful and vivid tale of the Sweden of three hundred and fifty years ago. It is not a historical drama, but a tragic love story in which rebellion, treasure and murder constitute the action. The atmosphere of the story is maintained beautifully by the superb exterior scenes in which some excellent photograph effects are obtained of snow and ice. The acting, especially on the part of Mary Johnson, the heroine, Is excellent. There has been much comment recently on the excellence of Swedish photoplays, especially in England, where they have been shown regularly, and if the other Swedish pictures soon to be shown in this country are as flue as “Sir Arne's Treasure,” audiences will Include the Scandinavian in their search for the best. “Molly O,” Mack Sennett's latest picture, with Mabel Normand in the leading role, is a production fllled with wholesome hokum.
