Dentals Win From Illinois Normals by 55 to 21 Score CHARLESTON, IIL. Dec. 9.—Displaying the best passing game of any basketball team seen In this city In years, the Indiana Dental College quintette of Indianapolis last night defeated the Eastern Illinois State Normal team by the score Os 55 to 21. The Hoosier Tooth Pullers appeared to be five whirlwinds on the floor, passing the ball In such a style that the Illinois Teachers were powerless to stop them. No sooner would the Normal guards cover Dea Kyne and McPherson, the Dentals forwards, than Beeves would break thr . ith for a series of goals that piled Dp the top-heavy score Beeves was playing center, having oeen shifted to ihe position which Fletner had been playing In previous games. When the Normal guards covered Beeves and McPherson, Dea Kyne tore down the floor dribbling the balling through the Teachers’ defense for closeup goals. The Dental defense was almost as strong as their offense, with Captain Witter and O. Mathew breaking up the Normal passes and forcing the Teachers to long shots for their baskets. The Dentals have won four games this

Shortridge Net Squad Meets Logansport Five in Second Tilt of Year The Shortridge five tonight will attempt to break the losing jinx that seems to be the luck of the local schools when it takes on the Logansport basket tossers at the north side gym. Prospects for a Shortridge victory tonight are good as the squad has been cut down to a working basis and results are showing already. Johnson, the new Blue and White center, is showing great early season form, and along with Kinzer whose ability is well known to local basket fans, should do a great deal toward taking the up-Staters into camp. Elmore, Harrington and Christens are running nip and tuck for the other forward position, giving Coach Gorton plenty of material for his scoring machine. The defensive end of the Shortridge team looks good also. Fergusom the new aspirant for floor guard, Is giving Riley a run for his last year's position. Ferguson’s work in the Wabash game was very consistent. Kilgore is not yet hitting his last year’s stride, and man may be seen In the line-up at backguard. . . . The following men are expected to get In the game tonight: Forwards Kinzer, Elmore, Harrington and Christena; guards, Ferguson. Kilgore. Appleman and .lley; center Johnson and Kilgore.
