declares that hia present role suits him better than all the rest. “I know just what you want," he told an interviewer the day after he made his big hit on Broadway. ‘‘You want a nice story about a screen prodigy, ‘Pat Moore, the kid actor.’ That doesn't suit me at all. I'm no kid actor; I'm a professional. Acting, let me tell you, is a serious business.” He had recently discovered that by prodigious stretching he could sit ou an armchair and make his toes reach the floor, and he was making the most of his accomplishment by way of enhancing his dignity. “ ‘The Queen of Sheba,’ ” he remarked, "Is a mighty good show. I might say I regard it as an exceptionally good show, and I am indeed to te associated with Mr. Edwards, the director. Miss Blythe and the rest of them. It gives me great pleasure—great pleasure—say, I had learned them all off by heart, and now I can’t remember it. Good thing I don’t have to learn a part for the picture, isn’t it ?’’ Asa matter of fact, Pat Moore does not take himself quite so seriously as he would like people to think. What he says about his long experience as an actor, however, is perfectly true. He has actually been prominent on the screen since he was 3 years old, and he is 6 now. If pre-natal experience counts, he can claim more than a century of it, for his mother, No rah Moore, is an actress and her mother and grandmother and greatgrandmother were actresses before her. Born in Ireland, Norah Moore became leading lady of the New London Gaiety theater, noted tor its beauties. She was the youngest lead the Gaiety ever had, George Edwardes himself having picked her. The operetta, “The Country Girl,” was written for her, and she yiayed the role of Nan in it. Her mothe’ was Alice Knowles, an opera singer; her grandmother and great-grandmother were both named Judith Beard, and were well known on the English operatic stage, both having appeared at royal Command performances in Buckingham Palace. “I’m no prodigy,” he says, “I'm natural.” It was through his mother’s noted achievements as an actress that Pat Moore went into pictures. She herself went to California three or four years ago and found a welcome at all the studios. And when she presented Pat, the directors welcomed him, too, declaring that they would make an actor of him. But even at that age Pat had pride and a will of his own. He told the directors that he was an actor already--and he proved It. Two years later his young brother Hickey, who is now aged 4, also become a screen acto :. Among the pictures In which Pat has appeared prominently are “Sahara," “The Sleeping Lion,” “The Squaw Man,” “The

Turning Point,” “Womin’a Weapons," “Their Mutual Child,” at. and “Out of the Dust.” Many a player of four or five times his age could envy his experience. In “The Queen of Sheba” his role is that of the child of Sheba. Sent by his mother to Solomon's court, the little boy is kidnaped by the treacherous Vlshti, Sheba's rival, and Imprisoned in the Tomb of the Kings. After horrifying days and nights among the grinning gargoyles and the sombre sarcophaguses, he is brought out by his mother, more dead than alive. It Is Solomon's prayer to the true God that opens the boy's eyes and shows Sheba the power of faith. The adventure in the Tombs and the coming back to life are very difficult pieces of setting, and Pat Moore s convincing work has created something of a sensation. It has always been b s wish to be Judged, not as a prodljpy, bit on an equal footing with the other n embers of an all-star cast, and in “the
