Assessment of ths limit of punishment, s;x months Imprisonment and S3OO fine against a violator of tho State prohibition law In Circuit Court in Greenfield early this week brought encouragement to the Indiana Federal prohibition en* forcement machine, according to Federal officials. Bert Morgan, Federal Prohibition Director, has been urging ths neces sity of using all the teeth in existing 'iws against bootleggers upon county and city courts throughout tho State for some time. Prohibition agents say that the class of men now engaged in the bootlegging trade were recruited from the ranks of dangerous criminals, such as highwaymen and thugs. These men, it is said, care no more for a fine of a few hundred dollars or even the forfeiture of a bond of several thousand dollars than they do for a tongue lashing in court because they go right back to their law violations and make up the loss in a short time. It is a jail or prison sen tenee which hurts, according to the dry officers.
