Closing business sessions of the various woman’s organizations holding their national conventions In Indianapolis this week in connection with the G. A. 11. encampment. were continued late into last night, national officers being elected in some instances. Mrs. Anna Mlcbener of Phiiadephia, Pa. was elected president of the Ladies of the G. A. R. with Miss Lida E. Mansor. of Crawfordsvldde, Ind., as senior vice president. Other officers include Mary bell Ross of Chicago, treasurer; Amy Clarke of Missouri, chaplain; Ethel M. Irish of Wisconsin, counsellor; Genevieve I.uey of Chicago. Mrs. Lora Glnders of Colorado and Sarah E. Fov of Texas, council of administration: Jlabelie Xissen of Penn sylvan la, secretary, and Eva J. French, patriotic instructor. Miss Louise Benson of Oakland. Maine, was elected national president of the Daughters of Veterans at the session yesterday evening. Other officers named include Mrs. Lola S. Elliott, Des Moln-s. senior vice president; Drubella Thayer, Illinois, junior vice president; Lottie Merrill, Pennsylvania, chaplain: Ella Morrison, Ohio, treasurer, and Edith Clark, Michigan inspector. MRS. MUZZY PUT FORWARD FOR ARMS COMMISSION. The resolution urging that the name of Mrs. Ellen Spencer Muzzy of Washington, D. C., sponsor of the Daughters of Veterans, be presented to President Harding and urged by the body os a member of the national disarmament commission, was passed by the Daughters at their last session in the Central avenue Methodist Church. The president will send the appeal to President Harding at once. The order declined the invitation expended by the National Association of the Naval Veterans, to become Its auxiliary for the reason that It wouid be contrary to their constitution as the body is to be an unofficial auxiliary to ail patriotic organizations connected with tlie Civil War. They pledged their cooperation and aid to the association. Miss Bonnie L. Parke of Detroit. Mich., was elected commander-in-chief of the National Daughters of the Grand Army of the Republic, at the Hotel Lincoln. An Indianapolis woman. Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, was chosen as auditor. Other officers Included Mrs. Mary Baker of Chicago, senior vice president; Mrs. Lucretla Biles of Racine, Wis., junior vice president; Mrs. Isabelle Perry of Jackson. Mich., chaplain general: Gertrude Hassis of Chicago, patriotic Instructor; Ruth B. Young of Battle Creek. Mich , quartermaster general; Gertrude Fair 'of Racine. Wis.. officer of the guard: Mrs. Della Larson of Madison. Wis.. national historian: Mrs. Ruby Esser of Milwaukee, Sentinel; Nellie M. Ray of Waukegan, 111., registrar: Mrs. Mamie Geron of Chicago, Mrs. L. Cummongs of Battle Creek, Mich., Miss Lillian Stoddard of Detroit. M s. A resolution opposing the transfer of the Arlington Cemetery to the Daughters of the Confederacy who have petitioned Congress for the change, was passed, together with resolutions urging restrictive immigration laws; the encouragement of Americanization and various revisionary measures relating to the constitu Won of the corns.
