How She Does It! In the Model Laundry we have installed #IOO,OOO worth of new equipment —for your service. We offer you a "#IOO,OOO laundress” —equipped for your service as no single individual possibly could be—backed by knowledge and facilities that no woman you employ by the day and no home can possibly possess. The Model Laundry is one of only fire in the entire United States, similarly equipped. The following facts will explain our unusual facilities, and the remarkable service we offer: 1. The equipment installed in the Model Laundry is that perfected by the American Laundry Machinery Company, a powerful, far reaching and progressive organization which, by study, research and invention, has revolutionized laundry methods and equipment during the last few year;. 2. For each operation in a laundry they have perfeAed a "flexible unit of machinery,” which handles that particular work better and more economically than ever before. One by one these flexible units have been perfe<3ed during the last few years, some only recently. Other laundries have bought and installed one or more of these units horn time to time. 3. But, the Model Laundry has EVERY ONE OF THESE MODERN UNITS! At this time only four other laundries in the entire country possess the complete group of units. 4. The American Laundry’ Machinery Company was instructed to install every unit of their equipment, right down to the newest and latest of their devices—and to have their engineers plan and organize the installation so that the Model Laundry would be the model laundry in adual fad. This has been done. This is the equipment that is at your service. Here in the Model Laundry [washing is seen in its highest and best development. Here, washing is a science—an art, in fad. Washing machines, water extra dors, cri rs, ironing-presses of various designs for various classes of garments, are arranged so as to effed the most economical handling of work. 1 l or each particular need there is a particular machine—and of course we use soft water. All machinery is motor driven, and each machine is controlled automatically at a central station. Silks, laces, woolens, and garments that might "rim” are carefully sorted out, and given the exad treatment they should receive. The remainder of your family washing goes through as a unit—: shed, rinsed, dried and ironed as a unit. It is here that research an<' .y has effeded a real economy in this class of work. The old methou ot washing and charging by the "piece” is a thing of the past. No rubbing—no wringing! Soft water—more water! Oceans of pure, soft water and suds of mild fine soap, surge through and through the fabrics washing every trace of soil away! Varying degrees of heat in washing and rinsing water—different soap formulas—varying degrees of heat for ironing-presses—always the exad degree for each particular purpose! This knowledge, also the result of years of study and nation-wide research, is at yous service here. As to tl ° cost—we charge by the pound for family washings, instead of by th - piece. The price is lower than it used to be—new methods and equipment have brought this about. From our 30 years experience we are absolutely convinced that the cost of a family washing and ironing at the Model Laundry is pradically identical with the cost in your own home. We believe it might run less in some cases—but seldom more. In figuring the cost in your home you would include, of course, the wages paid your washer woman, her street car fare, her lunch, gas, eledricity, soap, starch and bluing. Did you ever estimate the EXACT cost of doing your washing at home? Just figure it up once—then send us your clothes just one week for our complete service, "family finish,” and compare the costs, and the quality of the work!

Sh e uses 600 gallons of pure, fresh, soft water for each family washing. —How many do you use? She softens this water by literally "grabbing” all of the HARD element out of it, using a scientific method by which the hard elements are drawn out—attracted much as a magnet attra&s and holds steel. —How do you do it? She reduces this water to ZERO water—the softest that science can produce. City water contains 18 grains of hardness. Ordinary rain water contains 5 grains of hardness. The water she uses contains only 1.4 grains of hardness. It is THREE TIMES softer than rain water. —How does this compare with the water you use? She does not RUB your clothes when she washes—not a single rub. —How do you do it? She uses twelve different soap formulas—knows and uses for each class of garments just what those garments require. ——How many do you use? She uses varying degrees of heat in both washing and rinsing water—using the exad degree required for various classes of garments. —How many do you use? She sorts your clothes carefully and with discrimination, taking out for special treatment (sometimes by hand) the silks, woolens and pieces that might "run.” —Just as YOU would! She does not mark your clothes—not a single mark! —You’d appreciate that, wouldn’t you?
_ j. 1. You have to employ SOMEONE Q/T.U experiment, to 4o your washing. Instead of i employing ONE woman with limited facilities and limited knowledge, and mussing up your home, why not employ a GROUP of competent, skilled laundresses, who have made a real profession of their work, and who constitute this ”#IOO,OOO Laundress” with her unlimited equipment and knowledge? We offer our family laundry service in full, or in part, as you prefer—that is, the "wet-wash” service, the "rough-dry” service, the "economy-wash” service or the "family-finish” service—which includes even soft shirts and
She washes the bulk of your clothes TOGETHER—in a separate compartment in her copper cascade washer—where they have absolutely NO DIRECT CONTACT with any other family’s clothes. —Just as YOU would, too! Sh e does not crush clothes through a wringer to dry them, but extracts 90% of the water by centrifugal pressure. —How do you do it? She completes the drying by means of currents of pure, hot air, forced into a revolving cylindrical shell in > which the clothes are gendy tumbled about. A blast of cool, fresh air ends the operation. She believes this is far better than to pinch them on lines in the back yard to collet dust and soot, or to freeze and crack in winter. — Don't you believe so, too? She does 95% of her ironing by PRESSURE alone—which does not rub and wear your clothes, or break buttons. Hand-irons are used only for the few spots that presseswon’t reach. —How do you do it? She uses ironing-presses in which the heat is fixed and maintained at an exa& degree. They can never get TOO HOT and scorch. —-How about yours? She sterilizes, as well as cleanses, every garment. —Do you? She knows that there are 11 distind varieties of stains. She knows each one when she finds it in your clothes. She knows just how to remove each. —Do you?
collars and dainty dresses. The "family-finish” service will permit you to judge every detail of our work. It will relieve you of every responsibility of all your washing and ironing. A word over the telephone to Main 0523, and this modern laundress will send a representative to your door who will explain any detail, answer all questions, and vanish with your soiled clothes. And that’s the last you’ll see of them for three days when they’ll come back, fresh, sweet and clean, beautifully ironed and ready for service. The telephone number is Main 0523. Experiment just oncel
She works in the cleanest, lightest, airiest, sunniest laundry room in Indianapolis. —Yours may be splendid, but hers is actually better. She is as competent and careful as you yourself would be. —And that is paying her a fine, though just, com* pliment. She is never sick and never fails to show up on wash day. —Does YOUR laundress ever, fail you? She works industriously, and does not soldier on the job. —How about THIS in your, home? She works rapidly, but carefully. She can fill her “tub” with 150 gallons of pure, soft water in 30 seconds. She can empty it in 15 seconds. > —How long does it take in YOUR home? She is absolutely responsible and trustworthy—has been in business 30 years. —Worthy of confidence , surely! She takes the work away, and doesn’t mess up your home. —Would your husband like THIS? She charges for her work NO MORE and possibly LESS than you are now paying—and you don’t have to get her a lunch. —Would you like that? She will answer if you will telephone Main 0523, and she will send someone to get your washing promptly. —Why not do it now? Why?
