TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Septa 9.—Negro bandits continue their operations in and around Terre Haute. Fred Halsapple, local taxi driver, was held up Thursday and robbed of? 75 by negro bandits. Jacob Hess, conductor on the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad, while returning home early Thursday morning was attacked. Hess opened lire. Cries and moans of the man were said to have been heard, Indicating that one of the shots took effect. No blood could be found. No arrests have been made. Ex-Soldier Injured in Crossing Accident Special to The Time*. ’-ANDERSON, Ind., Sept. 9—Ralph Hilligoss, 25, son of Robert Hilligoss farmer living near Markleville, was injured seriously Thursday when a motorcycle he was riding was struck by a westbound Big Four passenger train at tht Arrow erenue crossing. Pressure on the brain resulted from the injury. Hilligoss was gassed during the war In France, and the attending physician fears this may cause the injury to bo fatar He was unconscious several hours.

Girl Fugitives in Men’s Clothes Held FRANKLIN, Ind., Kept. 9.—Two girls who escaped from the Indiana Industrial School for Girls at Clermont Saturday night were found dressed in men's clothing two miles south of here late Thursday, by L. M. Bass, a fatmer, who took them in custody and brought them to the Johnson County jail, where they are being held for the arrival the school officials. The girls gave their names as Addle Collett, 19, of Edinburg and Lulu Phelps 19, of Evansville. Neither of the glrlr had money and said they begged food on the way and slept by the roadside at night. Both admitted former attempts to escape from the home. CHILD HURT IN FALL. NOBLESVILLE, Ind., Sept. 9. —Willis 2, son of Harry Webb, a farmer living near this city fell from a hay mow Thursday afternoon and fractured his ekull. The child also was injured internally. He Is not expected to recover.
