Special to The Times. SOUTH BEND, Ind., Aug. 2.—The hasty removal of the body of Engineer D. I* Flynn of Elkhart soon after his death in this city Sunday jjiorning has aroused officials of the Nero York Central Railroad ivho are conducting an investigation of the recent roreek at Nero Carlisle, In which Engineer Flynn met Injuries resiUiJjjg in his death. The body of the engineer rolls transported from St. Joseph to Elkhart county entirely contrary to the provivions of the law. It is and the holding of an inquest in Kt.‘Joseph county, where the wreck oocurred now has been made impossible. Immediately upon learning of the rpovnl of the body, railroad officials, determined to clear the road from responsibility for the wreck if possible, raised a hue and cry with the au;hor,,ies who permitted the removal, anti prosecutions are threatened. CORONER GETS WORD OF DEATH. Coroner C. B. Crumpacker of SL Joseph county was unaware that Engineer Flynn had died until the railroad authorities demanded why the body had been moved. He then learned that an fflkhart undertaker, who failed to secure a permit, had coma to South Bend and received the body from the South Bend undertaker to whom it was flrat given. New York Central detectives are bending every effort to apprehend the drivers of the truck which, stalled upon the right-of-way of the railroad, caused derailment of the locomotive and mine enrs. Zachary Calim of East Chicago was In charge of the train of flve-ton trucks, one of which derailed the flyer. The New York Central is especially anxious to have the responsibility for this wreck fixed. It is declared to have one hundred witnesses in readiness to testify at the coroner's InquesL LITIGATION OVER PROPOSER VIADUCT. A viaduct for this crossing has been proposed, but the railroad could not agree upon the specifications. The litigation now is pending in the courts. The railroad's share for such a viaduct, it is estimated, would have been s.■>o,ooo. The property loss alone in the New Carlisle wreck is said to be $150,000, while undoubtedly the railroad will have to pay thousands in damage claims nnlesg it can shift the responsibility for the wreck to the truck line. The railroad police force has been unable to locate Calim or the driver of the demolished truck, who disappeared immediately after the wreck.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind., Aug. 2.—Funeral services will be held here for Adolph George Hey, IS. former soldier, who is dead at the Government hospital at Louisville, Ky., from tuberculosis which be contracted while in the service. Funeral services will be conducted by the American Legion post here. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Hey, of this city, and one brother survive. Dr. Hill Opposed by German Editor BERLIN, Aug. 2.—The Hamburger Nachrichten today printed an editorial protest against the possible appointment of David Jayne Hill as American embassador to Germany.
