CANADA DENIES I.W.W. ENTRANCE Mounted Police of Winnipeg s' Ordered to North Dakota Border. —% WINNIPEG, Manitoba. July 22—Northwest mounted police stationed In Winnipeg today were ordered to border points where close watch will be kept along the international boundary to pre Tent the entrance into Canada of several hundred Industrial Workers of the World. The I. W. W , who are now In North Dakota, are reported to have declared their Intention of marching into Canada. At Oakea, N. D., according to report* received here, 100 mem* ers of I. W. W. informed the mayor they Intended to *tay there and would make their own lawa as they saw fit. . Reports reaching here declare that the I W. W. are congregating at Fargo. N. D., with the avowed intention of hindering vW.rk in the harvest fields. It is feared that they will attempt also to Invade the harvest fields of western Canada.
LESH ISSUES EXPENSE RULE State Employes, Seeking - Bonds, Pay Own Way. The State cannot legally pay the expenses of employes In the State Insurance Department incurred in obtaining fconds. U. S- Lesb. attorney general, ruled today. The ruling was made in reply to a letter from Jesse E Eschbach, chief examiner of the State board of accounts, who asked if a part of the $32 000 appropriated by the Legislature for the department could be used for that purpose. The attorney general in a letter to Lawrence Lyons, director of the State highway commission, ruled that the commissiou is not liable iff cases in which persons are injured in connection with accidents on highway work. In another ruling contained in a letter to William G. Oliver, auditor of State, the attorney general held that under the terms of a law enacted by the last Legislature providing for n new board of control of the State Soldiers' Home at La fayette and for a change In Hilaries of board members, the old member? of the board should be paid the new salaries dating from March 10. when the law became effective. ,

Charge Woman With Lynx Fur Theft Here Special to The Time*. SHELBYTH.LE. Ind.. July 22—Local authorities have arrested Mrs. Charles Francisco of this city on an affidavit filed in Marion County charging her with the theft of a lynx fur neck piece from * home in North Delaware street. Indianapolis. It is alleged Mrs. Francisco, while employed at the home, took the fur piece, during the absence of her employer. Mrs Francisco denied all knowledge of the theft. She was taken to Indianapolis by officers of that city, who came hre* for her.

MU NCI E MEN IN CULTURE CLASS Business and Social Circles Stirred by Arrest of Chicago Man. MUNCIE. Ind., July 22. -Following the arrest at Chicago of R Leonadis Wanger, charged with using the mails to defraud, it developed today that not less than twenty Muncie men, all of them prominent In business and social circles, had Joined Wanger's physical culture class organized by him here. It is alleged that each contributed the sum of S2O, to learn from him the secret of perfect health, nnd how to develop into a physical Apollo. Wanger, who Is alleged to have worked In Muncie, Kokomo, Anderson and several other Indiana cities, Is said to hare sold to each of bis pupils a set of "wonder balls" —two spheres with a set of springs inside. By holding a ball In each hand and alternately squeezing and releasing the balls, together with a set of exercises which Wanger was to give in a series of lessons, the puptl was to attain a perfect physique. He is said to have given one lesson to his class, collected S2O per man and then disappeared. started by his father, Francis Bergmann, in IS7O. Mr. Bergmann was a member of tho Eag'.es Lodge, the Commercial Travelers and the Chamber of Commerce. He had lived in Indianapolis all his life and was well known to the manufacturers of the city. Mr. Bergman Is survived by his widow, a sister. Mrs. S. O. Sharp, 4159 Guilford avenue, and a brother, Charles Bergmann of Chicago. The funeral will be Monday afternoon at the home of bis sister tn Guilford avenue. Burial will be at Crown Hill. Sheriff Hot After Man Who Shot Wife Special to The Times. TERRE HAUTE, Ind., July 12.—Vt uliam Donovan, who shot and killed bis wife late Thursday evening and attempted to kill his mother-in-law at a farm bouse near Rockville, wns still fit lares; today. . .novan shot his wire In the temple rol lowing a quarrel, then turnr-2 on the mother-in-law, but the bullets took no effect. He theu run from, the house and has not been located, but tbe sheriff and posse, who are on his trail, believe he will be arrested soon. The wife recently filed suit for divorce and was living at Sullivan, 111. She recently came to Rockville to be at the bedside of one of her children. Following the shooting, she died within an hour.

INSANE PATIENT DRINKS POISON Attorney Mistakes Deadly Fluid for Medicine. Special to The Times. RICHMOND, Ind., July 22.—Two deaths at the Eastern Indiana Hospital for the Insane this week as the result of accidental poisoning, were announced by Coroner S. Edgar Bond, today. Harry Untank, a trusty, formerly an attorney at Spiceland, and an inmate of the institution for the last twenty years, died Thursday night as he was being rushed to a hospital, after he had swallowed poisons thinking it was medicine. Relative have been notified and will come today to claim the body. Funeral services were held Friday morning for Harry Pollitt, 43, an attendant at tbe institution, who died Tuesday evening from an overdose of morphine. Pollitt, who came to this city from Marlon, had worked at the hospital only a short time. He came to this country from England seven months ago and was a member of the medical corps of the British army during the war. He was a sufferer from insomnia and officials believe that he took, by mistake, a double dose of morphine. His wife and child at Marion are left destitute, it Is said. Letters written to his wife disclosing 'plana for the future preclude suicide.
