Following is the mayor's statement In Dehalf of the Armenians: "The Near East Re .'f. an organisation that is most zealoui c its efforts to aid the suffering orphans and refugees of the Bible lands, will ask the people of Indianapolis to cooperate in a campaign for used clothing for distressed thousands in need, anil announces '1 uesday, July 12, as ‘Bundle Day.’ “I desire to appeal to our citizens to gtTe generously of their spare clothing. Most families haTe garments that will not be worn again, that will give warmth to shivering bodies in desolate Armenia the coming winter. There Is-much need for assistance among those unfortunate people of the Near East.' If our people will respond to this call in a generous way. much suffering may be spared and lives saved. •‘Let us all keep In mind the significance of ‘Bundle Day ‘and not let It past without making a donation. 1 am Informed that the pastors of the city will cooperate by offering their churen building? as bundle stations. Tie up your old clothing on tha morning of Tuesday, July 12, and deliver It to the Dearest bundle station. Any garment that has warmth and service will be acceptable. Reports from Armenia indicate that the people are destitute and multitudes of them are In rags. I- am sure Indianapolis citizens wilV sympathize with this condition. PEACE DOES NOT BAR LAW CASES Very Few Here Under War -Emergency Act. Tassage by Congress of the resolution declaring war with Germany and Austrls Hungary at an end, will have no effect on any cases now pending in Federal Court, according to Frederick Van Nuys, United States district attorney. With the exception of about thirty cases brought under the war time prohibition act, and the first indictments in the coal cases brought under the Lever act, very few were brought In Federal Court here under the war emergency laws. The coal indictments under the Lever act have been supplemented by Indictments against practically the same list o' defendants under the Sherman antitrust law, and the war time prohibition cases were disposed of long ago. It is said that in some of the eastern State* there are handred* of esses pendinf in the United States courts which will be affected by the Presidential proclamation declaring war at an end.
